  • Returns to relief role
Martinez made his most recent appearance as a reliever in Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Orioles, striking out two and allowing no hits and one walk over two scoreless innings.

Advice: Martinez's prior two appearances came as a starter, but he moved back to the bullpen over the weekend in anticipation of Frankie Montas' (forearm) return to the rotation. With the Reds officially activating Montas from the 15-day injured list to start Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Martinez should stick in the bullpen moving forward until one of Cincinnati's five starters succumbs to another injury. • Reds transfer Ian Gibaut (forearm) to 60-day IL
Reds transferred RHP Ian Gibaut (forearm) to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: After being shut down for a second time during a rehab assignment, the 30-year-old now be sidelined for an extended period of time. Gibaut’s forearm injury has been an issue since spring training and he’s had multiple setbacks. There’s no timetable for when he’ll make his return to the Reds’ bullpen. Rotoworld Today, 11:31 am
  • Reds activate Frankie Montas from 15-day IL
Reds activated RHP Frankie Montas (forearm) from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: After two weeks on the injured list, Montas will return to the active roster and is scheduled to start Tuesday against the Diamondbacks. The 31-year-old holds a 4.19 ERA, 1.45 WHIP with a 14/10 K/BB ratio across 19 1/3 innings this season. Rotoworld Today, 11:30 am
  • Rehab moved to St. Paul
Winder (shoulder) is continuing his rehab assignment at Triple-A St. Paul, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reported Tuesday.

Advice: Winder's rehab stint began with Low-A Fort Myers on April 30, and despite allowing four runs in 3.2 innings at Low-A, he'll be brought over to St. Paul to continue his recovery. Even though he's set to return in late May or early June, Winder isn't guaranteed a big-league roster spot, so he'll likely need to show better at Triple-A. Rotowire.com Today, 11:30 am
  • Confirmed for start Wednesday
Bido will start the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Rangers, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Bido has earned a look after collecting a 2.59 ERA and 39:13 K:BB across 31.1 innings with Triple-A Las Vegas this season. With Joe Boyle (back) landing on the 15-day injured list, it's possible Bido will be asked to make additional starts for Oakland. Rotowire.com Today, 11:28 am
  • Works in relief Sunday
Winckowski made his most recent appearance as a reliever in Sunday's 9-2 win over the Twins, tossing one inning and allowing one run on two hits.

Advice: Winckowski worked as a starter in each of his prior three outings, but his usage out of the bullpen to close out the weekend signals that he'll lose out on a rotation spot with Nick Pivetta (elbow) due to return from the 15-day injured list Wednesday and with Brayan Bello (lat) perhaps being activated from the IL as soon as Sunday. Over his three starts, Winckowski delivered a 1.69 ERA and 0.94 WHIP, but he never covered more than 4.1 innings in any outing and thus missed out on qualifying for a win on any occasion. • Shifts back to bullpen
Anderson made his most recent appearance as a reliever in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Twins, covering two scoreless innings while giving up one hit and one walk and striking out one.

Advice: Anderson made a spot start April 25 in Cleveland, but his relief appearance over the weekend signals that he'll lose out on a rotation spot with Nick Pivetta (elbow) on track to return from the 15-day injured list to start Wednesday in Atlanta. Rotowire.com Today, 11:23 am
  • Marlins send A.J. Puk on rehab assignment
Marlins sent A.J. Puk (shoulder) on a rehab assignment to Single-A Jupiter.

Advice: The 29-year-old will get another rehab start as he works to get back from a shoulder injury. Puk struck out two batters over an inning of work in the Florida Complex League and will continue to get relief innings with the team deciding to use Puk as a bullpen arm rather than a starter. He’ll need a few more outings at the minor league level before he gets back to Miami’s active roster. Rotoworld Today, 11:09 am

  • Setback after live BP
Waldichuk (elbow) experienced a setback after throwing a 25-pitch live batting practice April 29 and is shut down for the time being, MLB.com reports.

Advice: The left-hander has not thrown since that session and is slated to be reevaluated in coming days. It's naturally a tough break for Waldichuk, who opened the season on the 60-day IL but had been making uninterrupted progress prior to this recent stumble. Given Waldichuk will almost certainly require a full-length rehab assignment whenever he is cleared for game action, he may be hard-pressed to be ready for activation before mid-June.
