    • Throws bullpen session
Whitlock (oblique) threw a bullpen session Saturday, Peter Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: Whitlock emerged from the session without issue and will embark on a throwing program. Red Sox manager Alex Cora said, "it's just the beginning," when discussing the right-hander's status. Whitlock was placed on the injured list April 17 and seemingly would need at least one rehab start. Rotowire.com Today, 10:30 am

    • Whitlock (oblique) ‘feels good’ after bullpen
Garrett Whitlock told reporters Sunday that he felt good after his bullpen session Saturday.

Advice: Whitlock will now take at least a couple days off before his next bullpen session, which has yet to be scheduled. The right-hander will likely need to make one or two more before a potential rehab assignment. There’s still no clear timetable as to when any of this can happen, however. • Picks up second save
Adam gave up a run on two hits and struck out one in the ninth inning Friday to record his second save of the season in a 10-8 win over the Mets.

Advice: The right-hander has collected saves in back-to-back appearances, but he's looked a bit shaky both times. Adam served up a solo shot to Brett Baty on Friday before giving up a two-out double to Brandon Nimmo that brought the tying run to the plate. Adam's 1.80 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and 13:4 K:BB through 15 innings on the season remain impressive, but with Pete Fairbanks (forearm) set to begin a rehab assignment next week, Adam should return to setup duties before long. • Jason Adam closes out Mets on Friday night
Jason Adam picked up his second save of the season on Friday night, despite allowing a run in the ninth inning against the Mets.

Advice: The 32-year-old right-hander came on with a three-run lead to protect, but things got a bit tighter as he surrendered a one-out solo homer to Brett Baty. He also allowed a two-out double to Brandon Nimmo that brought the tying run to the plate, but was able to retire Starling Marte on strikes to end it. He has now converted two of his first three save chances while filling in for the injured Pete Fairbanks. His time in the ninth inning is seemingly coming to a close with Fairbanks expected to return on Tuesday. Rotoworld Friday, 6:40 pm

    • Slated for mound work
Whitlock (oblique) will throw a bullpen session Saturday, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

Advice: Saturday will mark the first time Whitlock has thrown off a mound since landing on the injured list April 17 with a strained left oblique. Assuming all goes well, he will likely throw another few sessions before moving onto throwing against live hitters, at which point the Red Sox may decide to send the right-hander out on a rehab assignment. • Garrett Whitlock to throw bullpen on Saturday
Garrett Whitlock (oblique) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Saturday.

Advice: The fact that the 27-year-old hurler has been cleared for mound work is obviously an encouraging development. If all goes well with Saturday’s session, we should get a clearer picture on a plan for when the Red Sox anticipate him being able to return. Rotoworld Friday, 2:57 pm

    • Grabs first win
Scott (1-4) earned the win Tuesday over Colorado, allowing an unearned run on a hit and a walk in one inning. He struck out two.

Advice: Scott allowed the free runner to score in the top of the 10th inning on a two-out Ryan McMahon double before ultimately striking out Hunter Goodman to end the frame. The Marlins would then score twice in the bottom half, completing the comeback victory and giving Scott his first win this year. The left-hander hasn't allowed an earned run in his last six appearances -- he's 4-for-5 in save chances this year with a 2.84 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 12:13 K:BB across 12.2 innings. • Tanner Scott picks up extra-innings win
Tanner Scott allowed one run (no earned) on one hit and one walk in one inning while getting the win in a 7-6 extra-innings win over the Rockies on Tuesday.

Advice: Scott got two quick outs in the top of the 10th innings but then allowed a double to Ryan McMahon which scored the ghost runner. He then issued an intentional walk before getting another strikeout to end the inning. He would pick up with win when the Marlins scored twice in the bottom of the inning. It’s never easy with Scott but at least the walk tonight was intentional. The Marlins are clearly planning to keep him as their closer, so he deserves to be on your fantasy roster, even if you want to bench him to see if he can work his command issues out. • Escapes with save
Adam allowed a hit and a walk in a scoreless inning Monday. He struck out two and earned a save over the Brewers.

Advice: Adam also hit a batter and faced a bases-loaded situation with two outs but still narrowly finished off the 1-0 win. It was his first save of the year after blowing his only other chance April 5 against the Rockies. Adam now owns a 1.29 ERA with a 12:4 K:BB and seven holds through 14 innings.
