    • Ryan Mountcastle takes a seat Wednesday
Ryan Mountcastle is out of the Orioles’ lineup Wednesday for the third time in five days.

Advice: The Orioles are DHing Adley Rutschman today, taking away Mountcastle’s spot. Mountcastle is in a 1-for-24 slump that’s dropped his OPS from .842 to .733. He’d be playing through it on practically any other team, but the stacked Orioles are treating him like a role player. Rotoworld 5 minutes ago
    • Getting breather Wednesday
Diaz is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels.

Advice: He'll be getting a breather for the series finale after starting behind the dish Monday and Tuesday while going 3-for-8 with a pair of doubles, two runs and an RBI. Victor Caratini will handle the catching duties Wednesday. Rotowire.com 49 minutes ago

    • Headed to Triple-A this weekend
Astros manager Joe Espada said Wednesday that Abreu will play for the Astros' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate Wednesday and Thursday before joining Triple-A Sugar Land this weekend, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The Astros previously hadn't ruled out recalling Abreu from the minors ahead of Friday's series opener in Oakland, but they've ultimately decided to keep the veteran in the FCL for a little longer before having him compete at a higher level. Espada didn't rule out Abreu rejoining the big club before the end of the weekend, although nothing official has been decided on that front. Whether Abreu will immediately reclaim his starting first base job from Jon Singleton isn't yet clear. Rotowire.com Today, 9:19 am

    • José Abreu to report to Triple-A this weekend
José Abreu is due to join Triple-A Sugar Land this weekend, according to manager Joe Espada.

Advice: It sounds like he’ll begin playing there on Friday, with the possibility that he could be back in the majors as soon as Sunday. Abreu has gone 6-for-18 with two doubles in eight games in Rookie ball. Rotoworld Today, 9:16 am

    • Provides two-run blast
Brown went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Rockies.

Advice: Brown took Justin Lawrence deep in the seventh to knot the game up at four. He's now homered in two of his last three games and has a hit in three straight but is still struggling to get going overall at the plate. He's slashing just .185/.236/.336 with five homers, 13 RBI, seven runs and an 8:42 BB:K in 127 plate appearances. Strikeouts have become a noticeable issue for the 31-year-old, as he's currently striking out at a 33.1 percent clip. Rotowire.com Today, 8:53 am

    • Hitting bench Wednesday
Renfroe is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers.

Advice: The veteran outfielder will get a breather for the day game after he had started in right field in each of the Royals' last three contests. Renfroe has mustered a lowly .518 OPS over 144 plate appearances on the season, but he's shown some signs of life of late by going 6-for-24 with a home run and 3:3 BB:K over his last seven games. • Leaves yard Tuesday
Davis went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's in over the Rockies.

Advice: Davis got the A's on the board with a solo blast off Cal Quantrill in the third inning. It was his first home run since he had two against the Guardians on March 29 and just his second hit in his last 20 plate appearances since May 11. The 31-year-old has lost out on playing time due to his offensive struggles. He's now slashing .196/.237/.337 with seven extra-base hits, three RBI, 10 runs and a 4:25 BB:K in 97 plate appearances. • Pops fourth homer Tuesday
Raley went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in a win over the Yankees on Tuesday.

Advice: The Mariners had their power stroke in solid form Tuesday, and Raley delivered one of four homers for Seattle on the night. The surging outfielder extended his hitting streak to eight games in the process, a stretch where he's left the yard on three occasions overall and has struck out at an atypically low 18.2 percent clip. • Getting regular work at first base
Gallo will start at first base and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Twins, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Advice: Since being activated from the 10-day injured list Friday, Gallo has now drawn six consecutive starts, with all coming at first base. While Joey Meneses has moved to designated hitter to accommodate Gallo, the Nationals might not have regular room in the lineup for Gallo once Lane Thomas (knee) returns from the injured list, perhaps as soon as this weekend. Gallo has gone 3-for-17 with nine strikeouts through his first five starts since coming off the IL, and he's produced a career-worst .579 OPS this season while striking out at a 47.3 percent clip.
