    • Littel gets no-decision Thursday
      Zack Littel allowed four earned runs, struck out three and picked up the no-decision in the Rays’ 7-5 victory over the Red Sox on Thursday.



      Advice: Littel was a member of the Red Sox for about a week last season before the Rays claimed him off waivers and turned him into a starting pitcher. He completed five innings and left the game with a 5-4 lead, but the bullpen couldn’t hold that lead. He has a 3.44 ERA on the season. Littel is set to face the Red Sox again at home in his next start.

      Valdez (3-1) picked up the win over Oakland on Wednesday, hurling seven shutout innings while allowing just two hits and two walks. He struck out eight.

      Advice: Valdez breezed through Oakland's lineup throughout the contest, retiring 11 of the first 12 batters he faced while never allowing a runner to reach second, aside from when Shea Langeliers advanced due to a balk in the seventh. It marked the lefty's second start this season in which he didn't allow any runs, while the two hits allowed marked a season low.       Framber Valdez tossed seven scoreless innings with eight strikeouts in a win over the Athletics on Wednesday.

      Advice: Valdez was outstanding against the A’s, holding them scoreless over seven innings. He scattered two hits and two walks, striking out eight batters on 13 whiffs.       Advice: All nine of Milwaukee's runs against Perez came via the home run -- the left-hander gave up a career-high five long balls after not allowing more than one in any of his first eight starts this year. It was a brutal day for the veteran left-hander, whose ERA is up to 4.86 with a 1.50 WHIP and 40:14 K:BB through 50 innings this season.       Martín Pérez was torched for nine runs over five innings on Wednesday in a loss to the Brewers.

      Advice: Yikes. Pérez put together one of the worst outings of his extensive big-league career on Wednesday afternoon in Milwaukee, matching a career-high in terms of runs allowed, while also setting a new career-high mark by allowing five home runs. The 33-year-old left-hander’s ERA skyrocketed from 3.60 entering this one to a bloated 4.86 mark in the process. He’ll attempt to rebound on Tuesday when he faces the injury-depleted Giants at home.       Advice: Eovaldi did some more flat-ground throwing Monday and might be ready to take the next step forward by getting back on a mound to toss a bullpen session. While he looks to be trending in the right direction, Eovaldi doesn't look as though he'll be ready to return from the 15-day injured list when first eligible Saturday.
