      Miller, who'd pitched just once in the previous 11 games entering Tuesday's extra-inning loss to the Astros, threw 14 fastballs of at least 100.5 mph on his 29 pitches during his two scoreless innings, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: Miller's arm was clearly fresh, and manager Mark Kotsay deployed his closer for multiple innings in the tie game as a result. Miller rewarded him by recording five strikeouts -- including of the noteworthy trio of Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez and Jeremy Pena -- over his 29 pitches. The elite velocity helped Miller to his 13th straight scoreless outing and extended his career-high scoreless streak to 17.1 innings. The improved but still inconsistent Athletics have afforded Miller just eight save chances among his 14 appearances, but he's converted each and now boasts a minuscule 0.98 ERA and 0.65 WHIP alongside a 38:5 K:BB across 18.1 innings.       The Reds placed Lodolo on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a left groin strain.

      Advice: It's not clear whether Lodolo was injured during his most recent start Saturday versus the Giants or sometime since then, but either way, he's going to be on the shelf at least for the next couple weeks. The left-hander has been excellent this season, posting a 3.34 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 43:9 K:BB through 35 innings over six starts.       Reds placed LHP Nick Lodolo on the 15-day injured list with a strained left groin.

      Advice: Lodolo still hasn’t had any arm problems as a major leaguer, but the rest of his body keeps betraying him. The 26-year-old was looking like a potential All-Star with his 3.34 ERA and 43/9 K/BB ratio in six starts since returning from his last round of problems with his left leg.       Diaz (1-2) allowed two runs on a hit, a hit batsman and two walks without striking out a batter in one-third of an inning to take the loss and a blown save Monday versus the Diamondbacks.

      Advice: Diaz loaded the bases with back-to-back one-out walks, and Kevin Newman delivered the walk-off two-run single. This was Diaz's first blown save since his season debut, but he's hardly been dominant lately, allowing seven runs with a 5:6 K:BB over his last 3.2 innings.       Singer (3-2) took the loss against Seattle on Monday, allowing four runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out six batters over five innings.

      Advice: Singer came into Monday having allowed exactly one run in three straight starts, but he couldn't keep that momentum going. The right-hander yielded four runs across the second and third frames, marking just the second time this season he's given up that many runs over an entire game.       Alexis Díaz blew a save while picking up a loss Monday by allowing two runs and getting just one out Monday against the Diamondbacks.

      Advice: The Díaz experience in 2024 has been interesting, to say the least, and probably is too kind of a description. The right-hander threw 9-of-21 pitches for strikes while issuing a pair of walks, and he gave up a two-run single to blow his second save and pick up his second loss.       Brady Singer was charged for four runs over five innings while picking up a loss Monday to the Mariners.

      Advice: Singer was in constant trouble Monday, as he allowed nine hits with one walk against six strikeouts. He gave up a long homer to Luke Raley in the second, and two more runs were surrendered by the right-hander in the third. Singer has been solid for the overwhelming majority of 2024, but this wasn’t his night. A good chance to rebound comes Sunday against the Athletics, assuming the rotation order doesn’t change.
