    • Trevor Megill works scoreless ninth in tie game
Trevor Megill worked a scoreless ninth in a tie game Monday against the Rockies.

Advice: Megill got a visit from the trainer after apparent tweaking his ankle while covering first base, but he was allowed to continue. He wound up preserving the tie in the ninth before the Brewers lost in the 10th. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:19 pm

    • Goes six scoreless for sixth win
Brown (6-5) earned the win Monday against Toronto, allowing two hits and three walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out five.

Advice: The Houston right-hander continued his torrid hot streak, tossing an eighth consecutive quality start. Over those eight outings, Brown has gone 5-1 with a 1.29 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 53:14 K:BB across 49 innings. Despite sporting a 9.78 ERA after his first 23 innings, the 25-year-old has now lowered his overall ERA to 4.07 in 86.1 total innings. Brown is currently scheduled to make his next start against the Twins in Minnesota this weekend. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:21 pm
    • Hunter Brown goes six scoreless to defeat Jays
Hunter Brown tossed six scoreless frames, allowing only two hits, Monday as the Astros defeated the Blue Jays 3-1.

Advice: The Jays had a chance in the second, when Brown gave up a single and walked two to load the bases with one out, but Ernie Clement and Kevin Kiermaier failed to bring home any runners. Other than that, Brown kept the Toronto bats very quiet on Canada Day. He’s won five straight starts, allowing a total of one run in the process. Having a particularly great stretch of schedule has certainly helped there, but he’d probably be doing just fine against better teams, too. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:15 pm
    • Nightengale: Rival execs say Alonso is staying put
According to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, rival team execs believe it’s more likely that Pete Alonso is not traded at the deadline.

Advice: Nightengale mentioned that “rival teams who have expressed interest” in Alonso are “convinced” he will “definitely stay put as long as the Mets are within five games of the wild-card race.” As of now, the Mets are just two games back and are 12-4 over their last 16 games. If the Mets do keep Alonso beyond the trade deadline, they will need to then decide how badly they want to extend him, but it would take one of the biggest power bats off the trade block this season. • Builds up to three innings
Springs (elbow) allowed three runs on five hits and struck out five across three innings in a rehab outing with Triple-A Durham Friday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: The surface results weren't impressive for Springs, though all of his runs were surrendered on a home run. He also drew 12 whiffs on 29 swings against Triple-A Lehigh Valley, six of which came against changeups. In total he threw 45 pitches in his longest rehab outing since retaking the mound June 7. That workload suggests he has work left to do before being activated, but he'll soon need to agree to continue his rehab assignment with the team beyond the standard 30 days -- an option for pitchers returning from Tommy John surgery. • Three-hit effort in win
Witt went 3-for-4 with a triple, one RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Guardians.

Advice: Witt had gone 10 games without a multi-hit effort before Sunday's performance. The shortstop closed the month 33-for-108 (.306) with 12 extra-base hits, 12 RBI, 14 runs scored and six stolen bases over 27 contests. Through 86 games this year, Witt is slashing .312/.363/.534 with 12 home runs, 22 stolen bases, 54 RBI, 65 runs, 22 doubles and nine triples. He's made modest gains in plate discipline with a 7.3 percent walk rate (up from 5.9 percent last year) and 16.7 percent strikeout rate (down from 17.4 percent) to sustain his elite production. • Knocks three hits
Ramos went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and one RBI in Sunday's win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Ramos knocked an RBI double and scored a run in the fourth inning before doubling and scoring again in the eighth. The 24-year-old outfielder has cooled off a bit in the second half of the month, going just 10-for-50 (.200) over his last 12 games. Still, he finishes June with 14 extra-base hits while hitting .304 (34-for-112) across 27 games. Ramos is now slashing .294/.368/.508 with 37 RBI and 20 extra-base hits through 48 games. • Launches grand slam
Turang went 2-for-5 with a grand slam in Sunday's win against the Cubs.

Advice: Turang took Kyle Hendricks deep with the bases loaded to put the finishing touches on a seven-run fourth inning for the Brewers. The 24-year-old has now hit two grand slams over the past eight days, giving him a career-best 37 RBI on the campaign. The middle infielder has enjoyed an exceptional breakout season, batting .292 with six home runs, 37 RBI, 40 runs scored and 28 stolen bases in 80 games played. Rotowire.com Sunday, 4:19 pm

    • Heliot Ramos powers Giants to blowout win over Dodgers
Heliot Ramos went 3-for-5 with an RBI on Sunday, sparking the Giants to a 10-4 blowout victory over the Dodgers.

Advice: Ramos was once again at the epicenter of an impressive afternoon for San Francisco’s offense as his three-hit performance helped spark the Giants to an eventual blowout win where they tallied 10 runs on 16 hits. The 24-year-old outfielder is in the midst of a sustained breakout campaign where he’s batting .294/.368/.878 with 10 homers, 37 RBI and one steal over 212 plate appearances through 48 games.
