    • Jurickson Profar powers Padres to win over Rangers
Jurickson Profar went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer on Thursday, sparking the Padres to a 3-1 victory over the Rangers.

Advice: Less than 24 hours after being named to the first All-Star Game roster of his career, Profar came back to haunt his former team with a sixth-inning solo shot off Rangers veteran starter Max Scherzer for his 12th round-tripper of the season. The 31-year-old corner outfielder’s unexpected late-career breakout continues as he’s batting .317 with 50 runs scored, 12 homers, 56 RBI and five steals through 89 games this season. • Robert Suarez quiets Rangers to collect 22nd save
Robert Suarez fired a scoreless ninth inning on Thursday against the Rangers to record his 22nd save of the season.

Advice: Suarez came on to face the bottom of the Rangers’ lineup in the final frame with a two-run lead in hand and immediately got into trouble by issuing a leadoff walk to rookie sensation Wyatt Langford. Fortunately, he was able to get Leody Taveras to ground into a fielder’s choice before striking out Travis Jankowski and coaxing a game-ending ground out from Jonah Heim. He’s converted a staggering 22 of 23 save opportunities this season and figures to be named to the senior circuit’s All-Star Game roster in the coming days. Rotoworld 16 minutes ago
    • Max Scherzer falters late in loss to Padres
Max Scherzer surrendered three runs over 6 1/3 innings on Thursday in a loss to the Padres.

Advice: Scherzer traded zeroes with his Padres counterpart Michael King early on in a throwback pitcher’s duel on the Fourth of July at Globe Life Field, but wound up fading late as runs he gave up in the sixth and seventh innings were enough to saddle him with a tough-luck loss. He struck out three and only issued one walk. The 39-year-old veteran workhorse has recorded a strong 2.70 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 11/3 K/BB ratio across 16 2/3 innings (three starts) since making his season debut a couple weeks ago. He’ll face off against the Angels on Tuesday in his final outing prior to the All-Star break. Rotoworld 17 minutes ago

    • Jose Miranda goes 5-for-5 to lead Twins
Jose Miranda finished 5-for-5 with three doubles and four runs scored Thursday as the Twins topped the Tigers 12-3 in a rain-shortened game.

Advice: The contest was delayed in the bottom of the seventh and eventually called. Miranda has hit in eight straight games, raising his average to .312. Over the last 30 days, he’s hitting a robust .379/.434/.586 with as many extra-base hits as strikeouts (13). It seems like last year’s struggles really were all about his troublesome right shoulder, and he’s back looking very much like a long-term regular now. Rotoworld 57 minutes ago

    • Ben Lively gets win after allowing three over six
Ben Lively allowed three runs over six innings to pick up a win against the White Sox on Thursday.

Advice: Lively scattered six hits while striking out six and walking one. The right-hander threw 93 pitches in the outing while landing 65 of them for strikes. He held Chicago to just one run through the first five before allowing a two-run blast to Paul DeJong to turn a strong outing into a fine one, all things considered. Lively has registered a 3.14 ERA and will be back on the bump next week against the Tigers. Rotoworld Today, 12:59 pm

    • Slugs 19th homer Wednesday
Hernandez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to Arizona on Wednesday.

Advice: The Dodgers scored all their runs in the first inning, and their final tally came on Hernandez's solo shot. The long ball was his 19th of the campaign, putting the veteran outfielder one home run away from reaching the 20-homer mark for the sixth straight full season (he hit 16 during the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign). Hernandez is on pace to challenge his career-best marks of 32 home runs and 116 RBI, which he established with Toronto in 2021. Rotowire.com Today, 10:35 am
    • Gets aboard three times
Profar went 2-for-4 with a walk, one stolen base and one run scored in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Rangers.

Advice: Profar saw a 13-game hitting streak end Tuesday, but he bounced right back in Wednesday's win. The outfielder also logged his fifth steal of the season and his first since June 6. Overall, he's maintained an excellent .314/.407/.472 slash line with 11 home runs, 55 RBI, 48 runs scored and 15 doubles through 88 contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:23 pm
    • Locks down 21st save
Suarez struck out two over 1.1 perfect innings to earn the save in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Rangers.

Advice: Suarez went a week without an appearance, so he was fresh Wednesday. He needed just 14 pitches (10 strikes) to get the last four outs of this victory, which resulted in his 21st save in 22 chances this year. The Padres' closer has been dominant with a 1.05 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 32:6 K:BB over 34.1 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:55 pm
    • Collects 13th save
Alvarado allowed a hit and struck out one in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Cubs.

Advice: This was Alvarado's first save since June 11, as Jeff Hoffman and Seranthony Dominguez had poached the last three saves. Alvarado remains the Phillies' top closer with 13 saves on the year, with Hoffman (seven), Gregory Soto (two) and Dominguez (one) rounding out the high-leverage group. Over 35 innings this season, Alvarado has maintained a strong 3.09 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 38:12 K:BB. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:26 pm
