Kenta Maeda tagged for nine runs by former team
Kenta Maeda was lit up for nine runs in 3 2/3 innings by his former team in a loss to the Twins on Thursday.
Advice: It’d be nice to think that such an awful performance was the result of his old team knowing something no one else did, but Maeda actually turned in one of his better starts of the year against the Twins back in April. This makes losses in four straight decisions for him, and his ERA stands at 6.71. Maybe the Tigers will try stashing him on the IL again, though that didn’t work in May. It seems more likely that they’ll just live with the results, as contention scarcely appears to be in the cards anyway. He’s in the first year of a two-year deal, so releasing him isn’t likely to be considered.
