    • Brenton Doyle sits Thursday amid hot streak
Brenton Doyle is not in the lineup for Thursday’s contest against the Brewers.

Advice: Doyle will take a seat in the midst of a sizzling-hot stretch at the plate where he’s homered four times over his last seven contests. It’ll be Jake Cave in center field on Thursday evening in his place. Rotoworld 16 minutes ago

    • Sitting with calf tightness
Doyle isn't in the Rockies' lineup for Thursday's game against the Brewers due to calf tightness, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports.

Advice: Doyle fouled a ball off his calf during Wednesday's loss and will sit out Thursday's game in order to recover. While he rests, Nolan Jones, Jake Cave and Sam Hilliard will start across Colorado's outfield. Rotowire.com 47 minutes ago

    • Kenta Maeda tagged for nine runs by former team
Kenta Maeda was lit up for nine runs in 3 2/3 innings by his former team in a loss to the Twins on Thursday.

Advice: It’d be nice to think that such an awful performance was the result of his old team knowing something no one else did, but Maeda actually turned in one of his better starts of the year against the Twins back in April. This makes losses in four straight decisions for him, and his ERA stands at 6.71. Maybe the Tigers will try stashing him on the IL again, though that didn’t work in May. It seems more likely that they’ll just live with the results, as contention scarcely appears to be in the cards anyway. He’s in the first year of a two-year deal, so releasing him isn’t likely to be considered. Rotoworld Today, 1:31 pm
    • Josh Hader works around hit to pick up save
Josh Hader allowed a hit but no runs while picking up a save Thursday against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Hader gave up the hit, but worked around it while picking up his 14th save for the surging Astros. The left-hander needed just nine pitches to get through the inning, and six of those went for strikes. There’s every reason to believe Hader will be one of the best closers in baseball during the second half of the 2024 campaign. Rotoworld Today, 12:52 pm

    • Idle Thursday
Rutschman isn't in the Orioles' lineup for Thursday's game against the Mariners.

Advice: Rutschman will get a day to regroup Thursday after being held hitless in 13 at-bats over his last four games. James McCann will instead get the nod to start at catcher while batting ninth. Rotowire.com Today, 10:12 am
    • Not in Wednesday's lineup
Alvarez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Alvarez started the first two games of the series but will sit Wednesday after going 3-for-10 with a double, a triple, three RBI and six strikeouts. Luis Torrens will handle the catching duties for rookie righty Christian Scott. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:58 pm

    • Brandon Nimmo (head) returns to lineup Wednesday
Brandon Nimmo (head) returned to the Mets’ starting lineup on Wednesday.

Advice: Nimmo was held out of the team’s starting lineup each of the previous two games after suffering a forehead laceration when he fell in his hotel room on Sunday. He did appear off the bench in Tuesday’s game though and is right back out there in left field and batting second against Mitchell Parker and the Nationals on Wednesday evening in Washington. • Not facing lefty
McNeil is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Washington.

Advice: McNeil will dodge a matchup with southpaw Mitchell Parker on Wednesday. Instead, Jose Iglesias will play second base and bat eighth. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:56 pm

    • Back in lineup
Nimmo (forehead) is playing left field and batting second Wednesday against Washington.

Advice: Nimmo missed back-to-back games with a cut on his forehead stemming from an incident in his hotel room Sunday night. However, he'll return to action Wednesday, joining Tyrone Taylor and Ben Gamel in the outfield. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:55 pm
