    • Expected to join team in San Diego
Junis (shoulder) is expected to join the Brewers during their four-game road series against the Padres beginning Thursday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: Junis will meet the team in San Diego barring any discomfort from his sim game in Arizona on Monday. The 31-year-old has been on the injured list since April 6 with a right shoulder impingement and a subsequent head injury, but he now appears to be on the cusp of a return to the major-league roster. It's unclear if Junis will be asked to step into the starting rotation upon his activation from the 60-day IL, but he'll likely be back in the rotation sooner rather than later. • Jakob Junis (shoulder, head) likely to come off IL
Jakob Junis will likely come off the injured list and pitch for the Brewers this weekend.

Advice: Junis, coming back from shoulder and head injuries, didn’t impress in his second rehab start June 8, but instead of having him do another one, he’s been pitching sim games with the Brewers. It’s unclear whether he’ll start against the Padres this weekend or pitch in relief initially. Rotoworld 7 minutes ago

    • Chase Silseth (elbow) to make third rehab start
Rather than rejoin the rotation, Chase Silseth will make a third rehab start on Friday.

Advice: Giving up three runs in five innings for Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday wasn’t good enough to get Silseth back to the majors just yet. The Angels have off Thursday and Sunday this week, so there’s little harm in keeping Silseth down for now. If he pitches well Friday, he’ll probably be added to the rotation next week. Silseth has been out since early April with elbow inflammation. Rotoworld 13 minutes ago

    • Set for another rehab start
Silseth (elbow) will make another rehab start with Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday against Reno, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Silseth is set for a fifth rehab start and third with Salt Lake. The 24-year-old has been on the injured list since April 8 due right elbow inflammation, but he appears to be closing in on a return to the major-league roster. Through two starts at Triple-A, Silseth has struggled a little, surrendering nine runs on 11 hits and eight walks while striking out seven batters over 7.2 innings. He'll look to put together a more successful outing Friday versus Reno. Rotowire.com 23 minutes ago

    • Set to start Monday
Plesac will draw the start Monday versus the Brewers.

Advice: Plesac will replace Jose Soriano (abdomen) on the mound after Soriano was a late scratch with lower abdominal pain Monday. Plesac had his contract selected by Los Angeles on Monday and he'll now get his first chance to start a major-league contest in 2024. The right-hander has produced a 5.42 ERA and 1.43 WHIP with 51 strikeouts over 74.2 innings in 13 starts with Triple-A Salt Lake this season. Rotowire.com 55 minutes ago

    • José Soriano gets scratched due to abdominal pain
José Soriano was scratched from his scheduled start Monday due to abdominal pain.

Advice: Zach Plesac will go right into the rotation and start after being called up this afternoon. Hopefully, this is an illness and not something else abdomen-related for Soriano. Then again, the only way he’s going to finish this season as a starter is if he does miss a chunk of time on the injured list. Rotoworld 57 minutes ago

    • Scratched from start
Soriano was scratched from his scheduled start Monday against the Brewers due to lower abdominal pain.

Advice: Soriano was expected to toe the rubber for the series opener with Milwaukee, but he'll now be forced to take a seat. The severity of his injury is unknown, but in the meantime, Zach Plesac will replace him on the mound Monday. More information on Soriano's status will likely be provided following the contest. • Asymptomatic but still shut down
Weathers (finger) is asymptomatic but has yet to resume a throwing program, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The left-hander has been out since early June with a left index finger strain. Weathers will be reevaluated early next week, so while he is feeling better, it appears he won't be cleared to throw for at least another week. He'll need to ramp things back up at that point, so a return before the end of June looks to be out of the question. Rotowire.com Today, 3:04 pm

    • Designated for assignment
The Angels designated Suarez for assignment Monday.

Advice: Suarez looked like he was going to be a solid mid-rotation starter for the Angels when he posted a 3.86 ERA and 188:69 K:BB over 207.1 innings from 2021-22. It's been tough sledding since then, though, with an 8.22 ERA over 29 appearances (eight starts). He also missed a large chunk of 2023 with shoulder problems. Still, as a 26-year-old that's shown promise in the past, there might be interest in Suarez via trade or waivers. Rotowire.com Today, 2:51 pm
