    • Blows save opportunity Thursday
Scott (5-5) took the loss and blew a save against the Mets on Thursday, allowing two runs on one hit and one walk while striking out one batter over one-third of an inning.

Advice: Scott was 8-for-9 in save chances coming into Thursday and hadn't blown a save since mid-April. In fact, he had rattled off 19 straight outings without allowing an earned run, racking up five wins and seven saves during that stretch. However, the southpaw couldn't protect a one-run, ninth-inning lead versus New York, issuing a leadoff walk to Francisco Lindor before serving up a walk-off two-run blast to J.D. Martinez two batters later. Despite the implosion Thursday, Scott has pitched well enough this season to not currently be in danger of losing his closing role, but that success could also make him a prime candidate to be dealt by the rebuilding Marlins. • Scott blows second save against Mets Thursday
Tanner Scott allowed two runs and blew the save against the Mets on Thursday.

Advice: Scott came into the ninth inning with a one-run lead on the road. He walked Francisco Lindor before striking out Brandon Nimmo. Then J.D. Martinez got him for a walk-off two-run home run. It was just his second blown save of the season. His last blown save was on April 14th against Atlanta. Scott’s ERA is now 1.93. He has eight saves and five wins with the Marlins this year. Rotoworld Thursday, 6:51 pm

    • Nails down eighth save
Scott struck out three over two perfect innings Tuesday to record his eighth save of the season in a 4-2 win over the Mets.

Advice: The lefty fired 22 of 31 pitches for strikes in perhaps his most impressive performance of the season. Scott hasn't allowed a run since the beginning of May and seems to have solved the control issues that plagued him early in the year -- over his 13-appearance scoreless streak he has a 0.73 WHIP and 18:6 K:BB through 15 innings, recording four wins, four saves and a hold. • Tanner Scott gets two-inning save
Tanner Scott pitched two scoreless innings, striking out three to secure his eighth save in a 4-2 win over the Mets on Tuesday.

Advice: Scott was brought in to face the heart of the Mets order in the eighth inning and then stayed in to close out the game after the Marlins gave him an extra run of cushion in the top of the ninth. The left-hander has now walked six batters and struck out eighteen in 15 innings since the start of May. That hasn’t led to many saves with Miami not producing many wins, but Scott has seemed to put his early season control issues behind him. For now. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:58 pm

    • Fans nine in loss
Pepiot (4-3) took the loss Monday against Baltimore, allowing four runs on nine hits and no walks over six innings. He struck out nine.

Advice: Pepiot struggled to contain an imposing Orioles lineup, allowing a career-high nine hits. However, it wasn't all bad for the Rays righty as he generated an impressive 16 whiffs en route to nine strikeouts. Following this four-run appearance, Pepiot has thrown a 4.17 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 68:16 K:BB over 58.1 innings this season. The 26-year-old faces another difficult test in his next start, scheduled to be at Atlanta this weekend. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:08 pm

    • Ryan Pepiot strikes out nine in loss to Orioles
Ryan Pepiot struck out nine and allowed four runs over six innings on Monday in a loss to the Orioles.

Advice: Pepiot put together an extremely impressive performance as solo homers from Gunnar Henderson and Ryan O’Hearn, respectively, represented the only damage against him early on until O’Hearn added a two-run double in the fifth inning, which was enough to saddle him with a loss. He generated 16 swinging strikes, including six on his changeup alone, and finished with a robust 35 percent CSW. The 26-year-old righty has excelled in his Rays debut this season, allowing three earned runs or fewer in eight of his 11 starts. He’ll bring a sparkling 4.17 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 68/16 K/BB ratio across 58 1/3 innings (11 starts) into a challenging road matchup on Saturday against the Braves at Truist Park. • Report: Yankees might eye lefty relievers
According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, it “would be ideal” for the Yankees to pursue a “wipeout lefty” before the trade deadline.

Advice: Rosenthal specifically mentions Marlins’ Tanner Scott or Andrew Nardi and acknowledges that “The acquisition cost for a pre-arbitration reliever such as Nardi...would be considerably higher.” He also mentions that the Yankees would be open to high-strikeout-rate right-handed relievers as well, but a lefty is an ideal fit. This, of course, highlights one of the threats to Tanner Scott’s fantasy value as he would almost certainly lose his closer role if he were traded to the Yankees. You’re unlikely to get much for Scott in a trade in fantasy leagues, but his time as a closer appears to be running out with the trade deadline looming. Rotoworld Monday, 9:17 am

    • Picks up win
Scott (5-4) struck out two batters over 1.2 perfect frames and earned a win over the Guardians on Friday.

Advice: Scott entered a tie game in the eighth inning and forced a double play to escape the first-and-third jam he inherited. He then struck out two in the ninth inning before Miami walked it off in the bottom of the frame. After some early season struggles, Scott has now gone 18 straight innings without allowing an earned run. His season ERA has fallen to 1.40 with a 27:19 K:BB through 25.2 innings. • Tanner Scott notches fifth win for Marlins
Tanner Scott pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings and notched a win in relief Friday against the Guardians.

Advice: Scott came into a tie game in the eighth and stayed in to finish after the Marlins took a one-run lead. It’s his fifth win of the year, all coming since Apr. 30. Even though he’s very much Miami’s closer, he has just three saves during that same five-week span. Rotoworld Friday, 7:13 pm
