    • Released by Mets
The Mets released Choi on Friday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Choi had a June 1 opt-out in his minor-league deal with the Mets, but he'll hit the open market a day early. The 33-year-old slashed .183/.307/.317 across 101 plate appearances at Triple-A Syracuse and will likely look to sign a minor-league deal elsewhere. Rotowire.com 18 minutes ago

    • Mark Canha undergoes additional testing on hip
Tigers manager A.J. Hinch told reporters after Friday’s loss to the Red Sox that Mark Canha underwent additional testing on his injured left hip.

Advice: Canha was a late scratch from Friday’s lineup with the hip issue — which apparently has been bothering him for some time now and finally told the Tigers that he couldn’t play through it any longer. We’ll wait and see what the test results yield, but there’s a chance that the 35-year-old outfielder may wind up on the injured list. Rotoworld 26 minutes ago

    • Seth Brown strikes out four times in loss
Seth Brown struck out all four times he was up in Friday’s loss to the Braves.

Advice: It’s probably about time for the A’s to give up on Brown. He was a solid role player in 2021 and ’22, but his slugging fell off last year, and his exit velocity numbers have really slipped while he’s hit .201/.242/.329 this season. Lawrence Butler seems like a better option in his spot. Rotoworld Today, 7:25 pm

    • Mark Vientos goes 3-for-5 in start
Mark Vientos went 3-for-5 with two RBI in a 10-5 win over the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Advice: Vientos received a vote of confidence before this game with Brett Baty being sent down to the minor leagues. That gives Vientos full runway to be the Mets’ starting third baseman for the foreseeable future. He should firmly be on all fantasy radars with a .327/.377/.592 slash line in 49 at-bats this season. • Jake Burger goes 3-for-5 in win over Rangers
Jake Burger went 3-for-5 with a couple of runs scored Friday in the win over the Rangers.

Advice: Burger came into the night with a hideous .240 OBP, but the Marlins still had him hitting second in their lineup. Perhaps he’s starting to pull out of his slump; he has seven hits in his last three games, raising his average from .189 to .218. Rotoworld Today, 7:02 pm

    • Dominic Smith collects two hits in win over Tigers
Dominic Smith went 2-for-3 and drove in a run on Friday as the Red Sox defeated the Tigers at Fenway Park.

Advice: Smith got the Red Sox on the board with a run-scoring double off of Kenta Maeda in the fourth inning, then scored on Ceddanne Rafaela’s three-run blast. The 28-year-old also drew a walk in the contest, reaching base safely in three of his four plate appearances. Even with the strong showing though, he’s still hitting just .198/.278/.284 with one homer and 13 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Today, 6:42 pm

    • David Fry stays hot, homers again
David Fry went 1-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, and a walk in a win over the Nationals on Friday.

Advice: What else is there to say about Fry? This long ball was his third in six games and it’s getting more and more difficult to deny his blazing hot start. He’s slashing a remarkable .365/.485/.629 with the plate discipline and batted ball metrics to match his production. Rotoworld Today, 6:37 pm

    • Scratched with sore thumb
Schanuel was scratched from the Angels' lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Mariners due to left thumb soreness.

Advice: Schanuel was originally set to start at first base and bat in the leadoff spot Friday, but thumb problems will prevent him from doing so. Willie Calhoun will cover first base in Schanuel's place, moving Matt Thaiss into the DH spot while batting seventh. Rotowire.com Today, 6:19 pm

    • Nolan Schanuel scratched Friday with sore thumb
Nolan Schanuel was scratched from the Angels’ starting lineup on Friday night due to a sore left thumb.

Advice: No word yet on the extent of the injury, but since he was in the initial lineup it’s unlikely to be too serious. Willie Calhoun will cover first base in his absence while Matt Thaiss will enter the lineup as the team’s designated hitter against Bryan Woo and the Mariners on Friday night. Rotoworld Today, 6:17 pm
