    • Strong until late homer
Gilbert (3-2) allowed three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out seven over 6.2 innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Royals.

Advice: Gilbert gave up just four baserunners over the first six innings. He went back out for the seventh, but two walks and a Nelson Velazquez home run ended his outing in unfortunate fashion. It's a significant improvement on the eight-run fiasco he had in Minnesota in his last start, but it's still a second straight loss for 27-year-old. He's pitched to a 3.07 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 61:18 K:BB over 58.2 innings over nine starts this season. Gilbert is projected for a tough road start versus the Yankees his next time out. • Logan Gilbert takes loss in quality start
Logan Gilbert lost to the Royals after allowing three runs in 6 2/3 innings Tuesday.

Advice: All of the runs scored on Nelson Velázquez’s homer with two outs in the seventh, after which Gilbert was immediately removed. Obviously, it was an unfortunate conclusion, but it was still a nice rebound outing after he gave up eight runs last time out versus the Twins. Gilbert struck out seven and got 18 missed swings, tied for the second-highest total from any starter tonight (Joe Ross, at 21, was tops). Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:25 pm

    • Hitless in return
Gelof (oblique) went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in Tuesday's 2-1 extra-inning loss to the Astros.

Advice: Gelof missed just under three weeks with an oblique strain. The second baseman returned to the No. 6 spot in the lineup, which is where he was at just before the injury after starting the year batting second. He's slashing a poor .188/.250/.323 with three home runs, seven RBI, 11 runs scored and four stolen bases over 25 contests this season. Gelof showed promise with 14 homers and an .841 OPS over 69 games in 2023, but he's still looking to get into a rhythm this year. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:42 pm

    • Pitches well in no-decision
Sears allowed a run on five hits and a walk while striking out two over five innings in a no-decision versus the Astros on Tuesday.

Advice: Sears' lone mistake was a solo home run by Alex Bregman in the second inning. While it wasn't the most efficient outing -- Sears threw 65 of 100 pitches for strikes -- it was a decent performance for a pitcher that's had few middle-of-the-road efforts so far. This was the fifth time he's allowed one or fewer runs, but he's given up four or more runs in each of his other four outings. Sears is at a 3.96 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 35:14 K:BB through 50 innings, and he'll carry a 3-2 record into his next start, tentatively projected to be in Kansas City. • JP Sears allows one earned run vs. Astros
JP Sears allowed one earned run and five hits over five innings in Tuesday’s loss to the Astros.

Advice: Sears only struck out two batters in this one, but he did a good job of limiting baserunners for much of the evening. His lone blemish on the night came in the second inning on an Alex Bregman home run, but Sears was once again solid for the A’s. He’s now allowed one run or less in five outings this season and is sitting on a 3.96 ERA heading into his next start, which is scheduled for Sunday against the Royals. • Elias Díaz leaves game with left hand soreness
Elias Díaz was removed from Tuesday’s game against the Padres due to left hand soreness.

Advice: It doesn’t sound like a serious concern, but we’ll have to wait and see. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:50 pm
    • Rhys Hoskins out 2-4 weeks with hamstring strain
Rhys Hoskins will miss 2-4 weeks with a right hamstring strain.

Advice: The timetable comes from Brewers manager Pat Murphy just a few hours after Hoskins landed on the injured list prior to Tuesday’s showdown against the Pirates. It sounds like an MRI on the 31-year-old first baseman’s hamstring revealed merely a low-grade strain. There’s a chance he’s back at some point in early-to-mid June, barring any setbacks. • Taillon doomed by poor 4th inning in loss to ATL
Jameson Taillon allowed seven runs (two earned) on seven hits in four innings in a loss to the Braves on Tuesday.

Advice: Taillon allowed just one run on four hits in the first three innings, with three of those hits coming in the first. He started off the fourth inning by allowing a home run to Michal Harris II but then Taillon committed a fielding error and would later throw a wild pitch, both of which extended the inning and caused the right-hander to throw more pitches, allow more hits, and more unearned runs. It was a sloppy inning that overshadowed Taillon’s impressive 28 percent whiff rate with 12 whiffs coming on 43 swings. His sweeper and cutter were particularly strong on the day, but he struggled with his command and the Braves made him pay. Taillon will carry a 1.61 ERA into a start against the Pirates this weekend and is a strong streaming candidate for that game. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:43 pm

    • Lands on IL
The Brewers placed Hoskins on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a right hamstring strain.

Advice: Hoskins tweaked his hamstring while running to first base during Monday's game against Pittsburgh and had to come out of the game. He'll now miss at least the next 10 days because of his injury, likely spelling more reps at first base for Jake Bauers and Owen Miller, the latter who was recalled from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move.
