    • Vaughn Grissom likely to return Tuesday vs. Giants
Vaughn Grissom (hamstring) is likely to make his Red Sox debut on Tuesday against the Giants.

Advice: Grissom is slated to play in a pair of rehab contests this weekend for Triple-A Worcester before joining the Red Sox at Fenway Park for Tuesday’s series opener against San Francisco. The 23-year-old has been out since spring training due to groin and hamstring issues. Rotoworld Saturday, 8:37 am

    • Could make season debut Tuesday
Grissom (hamstring) will play back-to-back full rehab games at Triple-A Worcester on Saturday and Sunday and could be activated from the injured list Tuesday, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Grissom has gone 5-for-22 with two doubles and two steals so far in seven rehab games as he works his way back from a hamstring injury. As long as he comes out of Saturday's and Sunday's contests with no issues, he could be ready for his Red Sox and season debut Tuesday against the Giants. Grissom is slated to be Boston's everyday second baseman, although it's possible he'll have extra off days mixed in initially. Rotowire.com Friday, 1:41 pm

    • Vaughn Grissom unlikely to return this weekend
Vaughn Grissom (hamstring) went 1-for-4 with two strikeouts on Thursday in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Worcester.

Advice: Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters Thursday that it’s unlikely Grissom will return this weekend, but added that he’s getting close to making his season debut. The 23-year-old infielder figures to take over as Boston’s everyday second baseman upon arrival. Rotoworld Thursday, 6:17 pm

    • Nico Hoerner picks up three more hits vs. Astros
Nico Hoerner went 3-for-5 against the Astros on Thursday.

Advice: Hoerner singled twice and added a double. The 26-year-old now has his average to .300 to go with a .785 OPS. This makes back-to-back multi-hit games for Hoerner, and he appears to be figuring things out after a slow start on the season. Fantasy managers sure would like to see more running from a player that stole 43 bases last year, as Hoerner is still stuck on one stolen base in 2024. Rotoworld Thursday, 2:09 pm

    • Activation this weekend unlikely
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Thursday that Grissom (hamstring) is getting close to being activated from the 10-day injured list but is unlikely to be reinstated this weekend, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Advice: Grissom has played six rehab games with Triple-A Worcester, starting at second base for the last three of them. The Red Sox have an off day Monday before beginning a series with the Giants at home Tuesday, and that could be the day the club is targeting for Grissom's season and team debut. • Drives in two runs
Hoerner went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI in Sunday's loss to Miami.

Advice: Hoerner put the Cubs on the board with an RBI single in the second inning before adding an RBI double in the fourth. The 26-year-old began the year in an 8-for-44 slump but has turned things around as of late. Over his last seven appearances, Hoerner has gone 14-for-32 (.438) with six extra-base hits and just three strikeouts. That hot stretch has boosted his season slash line to .289/.389/.395. • Nico Hoerner has three hits in loss to Marlins
Nico Hoerner went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI in a loss to the Marlins.

Advice: Hoerner has successfully rescued his batting average, now slashing .289/.389/.395 on the season. The double was a well-struck 101.6 mph rocket in the first inning off Edward Cabrera. However, despite hitting leadoff and getting on base three times, Hoerner didn’t attempt a stolen base. He has zero steals on the season after swiping 43 bases last year, and you have to wonder whether the change in manager to Craig Counsell is impacting some of this. That would be a real hit to Hoerner’s fantasy value. Rotoworld Apr 21, 2:24 pm

    • Begins playing 2B on rehab
Grissom (hamstring) played second base for the first time Friday while on his rehab assignment, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports. He went 1-for-3 with a double and made a nice backhand play on a ball hit up the middle.

Advice: Grissom, who began his assignment April 12, served as the designated hitter for three games before moving to the field Friday. He followed up in the field for a second consecutive day Saturday. Grissom is trending in the right direction, but the Red Sox are not going to rush him. He's learning a new position, and manager Alex Cora wants him to build up reps at second base. Rotowire.com Apr 21, 7:57 am

    • Doubles twice in win
Hoerner went 2-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored in Friday's 8-3 win over the Marlins.

Advice: Hoerner paced the way as the leadoff hitter, and after a slow start to the season, he's now batting a robust .361 over his last 10 games. The infielder has batted .280 or better in each of the last three years, and he should be able to reach that mark again in 2024, particularly if he keeps up his recent level of performance.
