  • Miguel Vargas expected to join Dodgers in Colorado
    Miguel Vargas is expected to join the Dodgers in Colorado on Monday with Mookie Betts (hand) landing on the injured list.

    Advice: Vargas was just optioned to Triple-A on Wednesday, but he’ll head right back with Betts heading to the injured list. Dodgers’ skipper Dave Roberts said that Miguel Rojas and Enrique Hernandez are likely to see the bulk of the action at shortstop with Betts sidelined, but that Vargas will fill a role on the team’s bench.     Max Kepler (elbow) returned to the Twins’ starting lineup for the nightcap of Sunday’s doubleheader against the Athletics.

    Advice: Kepler was held out of the team’s starting lineup on Saturday — before that game was washed out by rain. He then sat out the first game of Sunday’s twin bill with a left-hander on the hill for the A’s, but he’s right back in his customary cleanup spot in the order for the second game on Sunday night.     Gonzalez (hamstring) will travel with the Red Sox to Toronto for their upcoming three-game series with the Blue Jays and is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list Monday or Tuesday, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

    Advice: Gonzalez completed his rehab assignment Sunday with Triple-A Worcester with a four-hit performance, and he went 6-for-10 overall while playing three of the past four days.     Bader went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, two runs and a stolen base in Sunday's 11-6 win over the Padres.
