    Advice: Irvin was called upon for a long-relief outing after John Means (elbow) exited following a rain delay. The severity of Means' injury is unknown at this time, but if it requires a stint on the injured list, Irvin has a clear path back to the rotation after making his last two appearances out of the bullpen. Irvin has pitched well this season with a 3.15 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 30:8 K:B over 45.2 innings through nine appearances (seven starts). Means' spot in the rotation is slated for a home start versus the Red Sox next week, and Irvin's appearance Wednesday would put him on schedule to step into that spot if necessary.     Luzardo (2-3) picked up the win Wednesday, allowing three hits and no walks with four strikeouts across eight scoreless innings against the Brewers.

    Advice: Luzardo completed eight innings for the first time in his career, blanking Milwaukee in dominant fashion. All three hits allowed were singles and he didn't issue a walk for a second straight start. The southpaw retired 17 consecutive batters during the start, spanning the second to the eighth inning. He's been excellent in three starts since coming off the IL, owning a 0.92 ERA and a 19:1 K:BB over 19.2 innings. He'll look to keep the ball rolling Tuesday against the Padres.     Gaddis (3-1) allowed a hit and struck out three without walking a batter over 1.1 innings to earn the win over the Mets on Wednesday.

    Advice: Gaddis was the beneficiary of the Guardians' comeback push Wednesday, picking up his second win in five outings. The right-hander hasn't allowed a run over 9.1 innings in May while adding a 7:1 K:BB, two wins and four holds for the month. He's thriving in a high-leverage role in his first year as a full-time reliever, posting a 1.85 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 24:4 K:BB with 11 holds and three blown saves over 24.1 innings this season.   • Struggles again Wednesday
    Miller (3-5) allowed five runs on five hits and struck out four without walking a batter over six innings, taking the loss versus the Yankees on Wednesday.

    Advice: Miller's last two starts, on the road versus the Orioles and Yankees, have shown that he still has some work to do against elite offenses. He was done in by the long ball Wednesday -- Aaron Judge tagged him for a two-run home run in the first inning and Juan Soto went deep twice in the contest. Miller has allowed multiple homers in four of his 10 starts this season, giving up a total of 10 long balls. The right-hander has a 3.53 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 56:16 K:BB over 58.2 innings. His next start is projected to be at home versus the Astros. Miller gave up four runs on six hits, including two homers, and one walk over six innings in a May 5 start at Houston.     Steele (0-2) took the loss against Atlanta on Wednesday, allowing five runs on six hits and one walk while striking out five over 6.1 innings.

    Advice: Steele made short work of the first six batters he faced in the contest before giving up a leadoff single to Michael Harris to open the third, followed by a two-run shot off the bat of Adam Duvall. The lefty then appeared to settle in over the next three frames, but again found himself in trouble after allowing three of the first four batters to reach in the seventh. He would end up being charged with another three runs in the inning, with two coming home after he was relieved by Jose Cuas. Steele has now given up four or more runs in three consecutive starts and is still looking for his first win of the season.     Cortes (3-4) earned the win Wednesday over the Mariners, allowing three hits and three walks while striking out six over five scoreless innings.

    Advice: Cortes looks to have turned a corner, allowing just one unearned run over his last 12 innings spanning two starts. He's collected wins in both of those outings. Cortes is at a 3.29 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 63:15 K:BB through 65.2 innings over 11 starts this season.     Snell didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against Pittsburgh, allowing four runs on four hits and four walks across 3.1 innings. He struck out five.

    Advice: Snell looked sharp to begin his first start after a month-long IL stint, keeping the Pirates scoreless after three frames. However, the 31-year-old crumbled in the fourth inning, yielding two walks, a hit-by-pitch and an infield single to let a run score and leave the bases loaded with one out for Sean Hjelle. Hjelle gave up a grand slam to the first batter he faced and pushed Snell's earned run total to four. Snell hasn't completed five innings in a start this season and is 0-3 with an 11.40 ERA through 15.0 innings. He's projected for a home start against the Phillies on Monday.     Nastrini (0-3) allowed nine runs (eight earned) on seven hits and six walks while failing to record a strikeout over 3.1 innings, taking the loss Wednesday versus the Blue Jays.

    Advice: It was a second poor outing in three appearances this season for the rookie right-hander. He did fine in the first inning, but the Blue Jays struck back hard in the second and added two more runs to his line in the fourth. Nastrini has an 11.91 ERA, 2.56 WHIP and 8:13 K:BB over 11.1 innings this season. It's possible the White Sox try to let Nastrini learn on the job in the majors now that Brad Keller has elected free agency after being designated for assignment Sunday.     Jones didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Giants, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks across six innings. He struck out five.

    Advice: The rookie delivered a fourth consecutive quality start Wednesday and generated a double play in three separate innings to keep the Giants from putting a runner in scoring position until the fifth frame. In that fifth inning, Jones allowed a double and an RBI single to the first two batters he faced, then he surrendered a two-run homer to Matt Chapman in the sixth. Jones is one quality start shy of the league lead and holds a 3.05 ERA with a 68:10 K:BB across 59.0 innings. He's tentatively scheduled to face the Tigers in Detroit on Tuesday.
