    Braves signed INF Joey Wendle to a one-year contract.

    Advice: Wendle was released by the Mets earlier this week after hitting .222 with zero home runs in 36 at-bats.     Atlanta signed Wendle to a one-year contract Friday.

    Advice: Wendle was released by the Mets earlier this week after hitting just .222/.243/.250 in 37 plate appearances but has quickly caught on with their division rivals. The utility infielder made the All-Star team with the Rays in 2021 but has produced just a .604 OPS in three seasons since then. Wendle will back up all over the infield in Atlanta. The 22-year-old will eventually move up to a higher affiliate and is likely to be optioned to Triple-A Columbus once he's deemed ready rather than be added to the Guardians' roster.     Schuemann went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Thursday's 10-9 extra-innings win over the Rockies.

    Advice: Facing a four-run deficit in the bottom of the 11th inning, Schuemann sparked the Athletics' rally with an RBI double before scoring on Abraham Toro's single.
