    • Getting Tuesday off
LeMahieu isn't in the Yankees' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.

Advice: LeMahieu has gone 4-for-9 with an RBI across his last three games, and he'll get a breather Tuesday while Oswaldo Cabrera starts at third base, batting ninth. Rotowire.com Today, 2:17 pm

    • Spencer Horwitz leading off Tuesday vs. Brewers
Spencer Horwitz is leading off for Tuesday’s showdown against the Brewers.

Advice: Horwitz gets an opportunity in the leadoff spot for the second time in Toronto’s last four contests over a slumping Davis Schneider, who is battiong .175 (10-for-57) over his last 15 games. Horwitz has compiled three hits in 10 at-bats over three games since arriving in the majors last week. Rotoworld Today, 1:52 pm
    • Mulling season-ending wrist surgery
Reds manager David Bell revealed Tuesday that Encarnacion-Strand is considering season-ending surgery to repair ligament damage in his right wrist, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Encarnacion-Strand initially went on the 10-day injured list in early May with a fracture in the wrist, but subsequent testing has apparently shown ligament damage. If the infielder opts against surgery, it's not clear how much longer he might be sidelined. Encarnacion-Strand slashed only .190/.220/.293 with two home runs in 29 games before getting hurt. • Bell: CES weighing season-ending hand surgery
Reds manager David Bell told reporters Tuesday that Christian Encarnacion-Strand has ligament damage in his right hand and is considering season-ending surgery.

Advice: Ugh. Not great. Encarnacion-Strand has been brought along slowly in his recovery from last month’s right hand fracture and was only recently cleared to resume baseball activities. The 24-year-old slugger has yet to be cleared to resume swinging a bat and it sounds like season-ending surgery hasn’t been ruled out as a potential option to address the ligament damage in his hand. Obviously his long-term health is the greater concern here, but it’s a tough loss for Cinciannti, and fantasy managers, if he’s not coming back this season. Rotoworld Today, 1:42 pm
    • Cora: Triston Casas hasn’t started swinging yet
Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters Tuesday that Triston Casas (rib) has yet to resume swinging.

Advice: Casas has expressed optimism that he’ll return around early July, but that timeline seems a bit aggressive if he’s yet to be cleared to resume swinging yet. There should be some additional clarity on his return timeline at some point in the near future, but he’s not close at the moment. Rotoworld Today, 1:32 pm

    • Still not cleared to swing bat
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Tuesday that Casas (ribs) is fielding grounders but hasn't been cleared to swing a bat, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: Casas had said previously that he was hoping to begin swinging a bat this past weekend, but he's still not ready to take that step. The first baseman has been aiming for a return to Boston's active roster around July 1, but that's a very rough timetable since he still has numerous boxes he needs to check. • Sitting versus southpaw
O'Hearn is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game versus Atlanta.

Advice: O'Hearn is hitting .400 with a 1.086 OPS through 30 at-bats in June but will take a seat Tuesday as lefty Max Fried pitches for Atlanta. Adley Rutschman will rest his legs as the designated hitter while James McCann starts behind the plate. Rotowire.com Today, 12:59 pm

    • Departs 40-man roster
The Red Sox designated Cooper for assignment Tuesday, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

Advice: Cooper got a shot at fairly regular reps with the Red Sox between first base and designated hitter, but it didn't work out, as he slashed only .171/.227/.229 with a 22:3 K:BB over 75 plate appearances. He'll get a shot somewhere else if he winds up leaving the Red Sox organization, but Cooper might have to spend some time in the minor leagues first. Rotowire.com Today, 11:59 am

    • Hunter Renfroe heads to IL with toe fracture
Royals placed OF Hunter Renfroe on the 10-day injured list with a fractured left big toe.

Advice: Renfroe fractured the toe in Monday’s loss to the Yankees, and it’s not surprising to see him placed on the injured list. The outfielder will be out at least a week-plus, but it’s likely that the outfielder won’t be back in the minimum amount of missed time. Drew Waters is up to take Renfroe’s place.
