    • Bello expected back “sooner rather than later”
Red Sox’ skipper Alex Cora told reporters on Sunday that Brayan Bello (lat) is making great progress in his recovery and is expected back “sooner rather than later”.

Advice: That certainly qualifies as an encouraging update for the injured right-hander. It’s unclear if Bello will require a minor league rehab start or not before rejoining the Red Sox rotation, but it’s sounding like he could be ready to be activated from the injured list when first eligible, or shortly after. • Kevin Gausman stifles Dodgers in win
Kevin Gausman allowed one run on five hits in seven innings in a win over the Dodgers on Sunday.

Advice: Gausman also struck out five and walked nobody on the day. It wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows, but that’s to be expected against the Dodgers. Gausman allowed four extra-base hits and was only able to post a 17 percent whiff rate. He also saw his velocity down slightly on both his four-seam and splitter but nothing concerning. He continues to have some issues throwing the splitter for strikes with just a 26 percent zone rate on the pitch. Still, it’s certainly a start you’re happy with against an offense like the Dodgers. Gausman’s ERA is now down to 4.50 and he’ll get the Nationals next weekend. Rotoworld Today, 1:28 pm

    • Out of Sunday's lineup
Carter is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Reds.

Advice: Carter has a .640 OPS over his past 11 contests and will head to the bench for Sunday's series finale. Wyatt Langford will man left field while Andrew Knizner serves as the designated hitter. Rotowire.com Today, 10:14 am

    • Slugs homer in loss
Soler went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Saturday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Pirates.

Advice: Soler's 10th-inning blast got the Giants within a run again, but the comeback effort fell short. He went 0-for-12 with one walk and six strikeouts over the previous three games. Soler's power is at an acceptable level (five homers, .414 slugging percentage) through 28 games, but he's batting just .222 with a .736 OPS, well under his .250 average and .853 OPS from last season. • Evan Carter gets Sunday off against Reds
Evan Carters is not in the starting lineup for Sunday’s game against the Reds.

Advice: Carter will grab a seat on the bench to open Sunday’s affair against southpaw Andrew Abbott. Wyatt Langford will handle left field, with Andrew Knizner getting a start at designated hitter. Josh Smith is also out of the lineup against the southpaw, with Davis Wendzel getting a start at third base. Rotoworld Today, 9:08 am

    • Rhys Hoskins takes seat Sunday vs. Yankees
Rhys Hoskins is not in the starting lineup for Sunday’s game against the Yankees.

Advice: Hoskins homered in Saturday’s blowout loss, and his reward is a day of rest against the Yankees on Sunday. Jake Bauers is hitting cleanup and playing first base in Hoskins’ absense. Rotoworld Today, 9:03 am

    • Heads to bench Sunday
Hoskins is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Yankees.

Advice: Hoskins started the previous 15 games but will receive Sunday off after he posted a .799 OPS during that span. Gary Sanchez will bat fifth as Milwaukee's designated hitter in the series finale against New York. Rotowire.com Today, 8:45 am

    • Allows one run in no-decision
Perez pitched six innings in a no-decision against the Giants on Saturday, allowing one unearned run on four hits and two walks over six innings while striking out four.

Advice: Perez was highly-efficient Saturday, retiring 11 of the first 13 batters he faced before eventually surrendering an RBI double to Wilmer Flores in the bottom of the sixth. It marked the veteran lefty's third start this season in which he lasted six or more innings and he's now given up two or fewer runs in four of his six outings overall. On the downside, he's also issued multiple walks in all but one start this season. Rotowire.com Today, 5:18 am
    • Jorge Soler connects for two-run homer in loss
Jorge Soler crushed a two-run homer on Saturday in the Giants’ extra-inning loss to the Pirates.

Advice: Soler hasn’t quite found his groove at the dish this season in his Giants debut, but Saturday’s extra-inning round-tripper off Pirates closer David Bednar -- his fifth long ball of the season -- might help get him going again. The 32-year-old slugger’s plate skills have been right in line with career norms, so it feels like only a matter of time before he really heats up. Rotoworld Today, 4:02 am
