      Taijuan Walker allowed four earned runs in four innings of work on Friday against the Diamondbacks. He struck out three and walked three en route to the loss.

      Advice: Walker’s dreadful season continued in this one. He had fewer whiffs than homers allowed which is all you need to know about this start and his season overall. It’s notable that Spencer Turnbull followed Walker in long-relief. He settled the game down and made this appearance exactly five days after his last long-relief appearance where Walker’s next appearance is likely coming in five days from this game. Turnbull had a strong April in the rotation with Walker on the IL and it’s difficult to find a reason that Walker would be more effective than Turnbull in that role going forward.       Astros’ manager Joe Espada told reporters on Friday that right-hander Justin Verlander (neck) has yet to resume throwing.

      Advice: There had been hope that he would resume throwing earlier in the week, but it’s taking much longer than expected for his neck discomfort to dissipate.       Bailey went 4-for-5 in Thursday's 6-5 loss to the Cardinals.

      Advice: Bailey is 14-for-37 (.378) over his last 10 games, and the lone contest in that span in which he failed to log a hit was one where he appeared off the bench. While the catcher is making consistent contact, it hasn't been particularly powerful -- he has just two extra-base hits in that span. The long ball was the 11th of the season through 74 games for the infielder, who has already surpassed his total of 10 homers over 127 contests last year.       Advice: Ohtani led off the game with a home run off Rockies starter Ty Blach. The home run was his 21st of the year, which leads the National League. He’s hitting .318 with 59 runs, 53 RBI and 16 steals to boot.
