• Day off Saturday
Trevino is not in the starting lineup Saturday versus the Red Sox.

Advice: Trevino will get a day off after he went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 8-1 win. Austin Wells will take over at catcher and bat eighth against Boston. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:59 pm

  • Pedro Pagés starting at catcher again for Cards
Pedro Pagés is at catcher and batting ninth on Saturday against the Cubs.

Advice: Pagés has started five of the last six contests for the Cardinals since Iván Herrera made a costly throwing error last weekend against the Rockies that led to a couple runs crossing the plate. It’ll only be a few weeks until starter Willson Contreras is ready to return, but it’s certainly a developing situation to continue monitoring in deeper two-catcher formats. • Playing time trending up
Pages will start at catcher and bat ninth in Saturday's game against the Cubs.

Advice: Pages is getting another start after slugging his first major-league home run and also catching a shutout Friday. It marks three straight starts for the 25-year-old and five starts across the Cardinals' last six games. Ivan Herrera is also in Saturday's lineup, serving as the designated hitter for the second day in a row. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:22 am

  • Goes deep Friday
Trevino went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in an 8-1 win against Boston on Friday.

Advice: Trevino homered in his final at-bat of the contest, taking Red Sox reliever Chase Anderson deep to left field. The long ball was the catcher's second in his past two starts and his seventh overall this season, putting him well on pace to surpass the career-best mark of 11 that he established in 2022. Austin Wells entered the campaign as the slight favorite for primary catching duties with New York, but Trevino has seized that role with a strong season at the plate, as he's complemented his homer total with 18 runs, 24 RBI and a .271/.319/.434 slash line through 142 plate appearances. • Smashes homer in win
Garver went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and two walks in Friday's 3-2 win over the Rangers.

Advice: Garver is up to eight homers this season, and he's hit three of them over his last eight games. In that stretch, he's batting .250 (6-for-24) with eight RBI and two doubles. It's encouraging to see more power out of the 33-year-old -- he went 18 games without a homer between May 13 and June 5. Garver is slashing a poor .176/.300/.352 across 230 plate appearances this season, though he's added 25 RBI, 23 runs scored and 10 doubles while seeing fairly steady playing time at designated hitter. • Mitch Garver connects on two-run homer in win
Mitch Garver hit a two-run homer to help the Mariners to a 3-2 win over the Rangers on Friday.

Advice: Garver tied the game at 2-2 in the first inning with a blast that scored J-Rod in the first inning. The veteran backstop/DH has been swinging the bat much better as of late, and he’s now homered eight times with 25 RBI. Garver’s slash of .176/.300/.352 isn’t aesthetically pleasing, but again, those numbers aren’t indicative of the last few weeks. Rotoworld Friday, 9:39 pm

  • Hits first career homer
Pages went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-0 win over the Cubs.

Advice: Pages opened the scoring with his first career homer, taking Hayden Wesneski deep in the eighth inning. This was Pages' fourth start over the Cardinals' last five games, though he's gone just 3-for-12 in that span. All of his starts have come at catcher, which has taken a chunk out of Ivan Herrera's playing time. Pages is slashing just .125/.231/.250 with seven RBI, four runs scored and one double through 39 plate appearances. With Willson Contreras (forearm) tracking toward an earlier-than-anticipated return, Pages may be on his way back to Triple-A Memphis before the end of the month. Rotowire.com Friday, 3:59 pm

  • Rockies place Elias Díaz (calf) on 10-day IL
Rockies placed C Elias Díaz on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to June 11, with a left calf strain.

Advice: The 33-year-old backstop tried to take things on a day-to-day basis, but ultimately the Rockies thought that it would be better to sit him down for an extended period of time to allow him to fully heal. Nolan Jones was activated from the injured list in a corresponding move on Friday. Rotoworld Friday, 2:59 pm

  • Riding pine Friday
Grandal is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Rockies.

Advice: For the third time in the last five games, Grandal will give way to Henry Davis behind the dish. Grandal is 2-for-21 (.095) in June, though Davis hasn't been much better this month, going 2-for-15 (.133) with nine strikeouts. Rotowire.com Friday, 2:58 pm
