    • Mets demote Brett Baty to Triple-A
Mets optioned 3B Brett Baty to Triple-A Syracuse.

Advice: Baty hit .225 with four home runs and 16 RBI in 49 games with the Mets. He was splitting time at third base with Mark Vientos. Vientos is hitting .295 with three home runs in 14 games. He figures to see a larger share of playing time with Baty in the minors. Rotoworld Friday, 7:50 am

    • Demoted to Triple-A
The Mets optioned Baty to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Advice: Baty is slashing just .225/.304/.325 this season and has struck out at 34.7 percent clip in May. With the emergence of Mark Vientos (.295/.354/.591), the Mets have elected to send Baty back to the minors in hopes of getting his swing right. Vientos will take over as the club's everyday third baseman. Rotowire.com Friday, 7:40 am

    • Heading to bench Wednesday
Baty is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.

Advice: Baty was in the lineup for three of the last four games with the Mets facing four right-handed starting pitchers, but he'll give way to the righty-hitting Mark Vientos on Wednesday while southpaw James Paxton takes the hill for the Dodgers. Vientos should continue to regularly replace the lefty-hitting Baty when the Mets face lefties, but the distribution of starts at third base between the two against right-handed pitching still looks to be up in the air. Baty has helped his cause by getting on base five times in 12 plate appearances over his last three starts, but Vientos owns a 1.085 OPS since his May 15 call-up from Triple-A Syracuse to keep himself in the mix for starts against righties. • Report: Blue Jays have interest in Ryan McMahon
According to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi, the Rockies are unlikely to move Ryan McMahon this summer, though the Blue Jays and other clubs have interest in him.

Advice: McMahon has busted out or at least enjoyed an extended hot streak this season, coming in at .286/.366/.483 to date. That’s a 135 OPS+ from a guy who has never before topped 100 in a season. Still, the Rockies, who have McMahon signed through 2027, have never heard of the concept of selling high. • Power surge continues
McMahon went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run Sunday against the Phillies.

Advice: McMahon popped his 10th home run of the season in the first inning, and half of those long balls have come in his last 10 starts. In that span, he's scored 10 runs and driven in 11 while hitting .268. McMahon has also cut his strikeout rate to 24.9 percent across 225 plate appearances, down 3.5 percentage points from his career clip. Rotowire.com Monday, 12:01 am

    • Ryan McMahon homers in win over Phillies
Ryan McMahon went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in a win over the Phillies on Sunday.

Advice: McMahon is having one of the least-talked-about strong seasons of any player in baseball. The 29-year-old is slashing .294/.377/.500 with 10 home runs and 32 RBI on the year. He has always been an underrated but steady asset in fantasy leagues and it seems like he’s emerging as a true asset in 2024. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:35 pm

    • Goes yard in Saturday's loss
Baty went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Saturday's 7-2 extra-inning loss to the Giants.

Advice: Getting the start at third base and batting eighth, Baty put the Mets ahead 2-1 by taking Sean Hjelle deep in the seventh inning, but Edwin Diaz and the bullpen melted down once again. Baty snapped a 14-game homer drought with the blast, a stretch in which he's stumbled to a .122/.182/.146 slash line with a 42.2 percent strikeout rate while seeing Mark Vientos move past him on the depth chart at third base. While Baty's long ball was encouraging, he also struck out twice more Saturday. Until he solves his contact issues, he'll have a hard time reclaiming the starting job at the hot corner. • Brett Baty goes yard for forth homer against Giants
Brett Baty went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and a walk against the Giants on Saturday.

Advice: Baty had struck out twice leading up to his at-bat in the seventh inning. With the game tied at one run, he put the Mets ahead with a solo blast off Sean Hjelle for his fourth homer of the season. The 24-year-old third baseman is slashing .229/.299/.336 with 15 runs scored and 16 RBI across 155 plate appearances. Rotoworld Saturday, 1:57 pm

    • Ryan McMahon dealing with back soreness
Ryan McMahon is dealing with back soreness.

Advice: McMahon was held out of the lineup Friday’s contest against the Phillies, but was able to come off the bench as a pinch-hitter, due to back soreness. The 29-year-old had played in 49 consecutive contests to open the year, batting .298 with nine homers and 30 RBI. Rotoworld Saturday, 12:45 pm
