Tyler Soderstrom starts at first base for A’s
Tyler Soderstrom is in Oakland’s lineup Wednesday for just the second time in six games.
Advice: It’s kind of surprising that the 22-year-old Soderstrom is still with the major league club, especially since the A’s still at least nominally view him as a catcher — 21 of his 27 Triple-A starts came at the position — and he’s just serving a backup first baseman right now. He’s hit .205/.296/.359 in 44 plate appearances since being recalled May 8. He started nine of the first 13 games after the callup, all of them at first base, but he’s even sitting against most righties lately.
