• Alex Bregman dropped to sixth in Astros lineup
Alex Bregman has been dropped to sixth in the Astros’ starting lineup for Wednesday night’s battle against Carlos Rodon and the Yankees.

Advice: It’s the first time all season that the slumping third baseman has hit lower than fourth in the Astros’ lineup. That’s what happens when you hit .195/.275/.260 with just one homer and 11 RBI through your first 138 plate appearances. Jeremy Pena will move up into the cleanup spot in the order with Jon Singleton batting fifth for the Astros on Wednesday evening. Rotoworld 16 minutes ago

  • Activated prior to Wednesday start
The Red Sox activated Pivetta (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

Advice: Pivetta will rejoin the Red Sox' rotation Wednesday with a start against Atlanta. The right-hander has been sidelined since April 9 with a right elbow flexor strain but was cleared to return after making one rehab start. He went just three innings and threw only 62 pitches in his lone rehab outing, so Pivetta probably won't be stretched out for a full workload Wednesday. Rotowire.com 17 minutes ago

  • Moves rehab to Triple-A
Gallo (shoulder) went 0-for-4 with a walk, a run and an RBI on Tuesday in a rehab game for Triple-A Syracuse.

Advice: Gallo went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and three walks between a pair of rehab games for Single-A Fredericksburg over the weekend and received the green light to move his assignment to a higher-level affiliate. He served as Syracuse's designated hitter Tuesday but could see action at first base and in the corner outfield for the remainder of his rehab assignment. Gallo may have to settle for a part-time role once the Nationals bring him back from the 10-day injured list. Rotowire.com 20 minutes ago

  • Out 4-to-6 weeks
Reds manager David Bell said that Encarnacion-Strand, who was placed on the 15-day injured list Wednesday, is expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks after tests revealed a new fracture in his right wrist, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Advice: Initial imaging after Encarnacion-Strand was hit on the hand by a pitch late last month came back clean, but subsequent tests revealed a right ulnar styloid fracture. The 24-year-old has hit a disappointing .190/.220/.293 with two home runs in 29 games for the Reds this season. Cincinnati will turn to Jeimer Candelario to replace Encarnacion-Strand at first base in Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks, while Santiago Espinal enters the lineup at first base. The Reds signed Mike Ford to a one-year contract Wednesday and could also turn to him for starts at first base while Encarnacion-Strand is on the shelf. Rotowire.com 20 minutes ago
  • Rays activate Taj Bradley, set to start on Friday
Rays activated RHP Taj Bradley from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: The 23-year-old hurler will make his highly-anticipated season debut on Friday against the Yankees. The 23-year-old hurler made a pair of minor league rehab starts at Triple-A Durham where he posted a minuscule 0.82 ERA, 0.46 WHIP and a 15/3 K/BB ratio across 11 innings of work. It’s a tough matchup against the Bombers, but fantasy managers shouldn’t shy away from using Bradley in that start. Rotoworld 21 minutes ago

  • Rays place Ryan Pepiot (leg) on 15-day IL
Rays placed RHP Ryan Pepiot on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 6, with a left lower leg contusion.

Advice: Taj Bradley was activated from the injured list in a corresponding move and will make his 2024 regular season debut on Friday against the Yankees. Fortunately for fantasy managers, Pepiot should only need a minimum stint on the injured list and should be ready to jump right back into the Rays’ rotation when that time comes. • Getting Wednesday off
O'Hearn is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.

Advice: With southpaw Mitchell Parker on the hill for Washington, the left-handed-hitting O'Hearn will retreat to the bench. Adley Rutschman will get a day off from catching duties and will fill in for O'Hearn as Baltimore's designated hitter. Rotowire.com 26 minutes ago

  • Mets-Cardinals game postponed
Gray and the Cardinals won't play the Mets on Wednesday after the game was postponed due to inclement weather, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The game will be made up on Aug. 5, which had been a mutual off day for the two clubs. As a result of the postponement, Gray is expected to be pushed back one day in the pitching schedule to start Thursday in Milwaukee. Rotowire.com 36 minutes ago

  • Mets-Cardinals postponed Wednesday
Quintana and the Mets won't face the Cardinals on Wednesday after the game was postponed due to inclement weather in St. Louis, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The two teams will make up the game Aug. 5. Assuming Quintana wasn't too overtaxed from his warmup prior to Wednesday's game being postponed, he could have his next start pushed back to Friday's series opener versus Atlanta following Thursday's team off day. Rotowire.com 36 minutes ago
