Cole Irvin allowed three runs (two earned) in 5 2/3 innings and got the win in the Orioles’ 6-3 victory over the Rays on Friday.
Advice: Irvin gave up eight hits, walked none and struck out six. The win was his sixth of the season. Irvin hasn’t allowed more than three earned runs since his second start of the year back on April 10th. His ERA on the season is now 2.87, though his 4.19 xFIP tells a different story. The 30-year-old left-hander will see if he can keep it going against the Braves at home next week.
Irvin will start Friday's game against the Rays, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
Advice: Irvin will start on regular rest, so it's not particularly notable that he will take the ball for Baltimore on Friday. However, that also moves Kyle Bradish back at least one more game, giving him multiple extra days of rest after Cade Povich took Bradish's original turn Thursday. Rotowire.comThursday, 5:54 pm
Cole Irvin will start Friday’s series opener against the Rays.
Advice: Irvin will take the ball in place of Kyle Bradish, who is getting a couple extra days of rest as the Orioles manage his workload after dealing with an offseason elbow issue. The 30-year-old lefty holds a 2.84 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 37/12 K/BB ratio across 57 innings (11 appearances, nine starts) this season. RotoworldThursday, 5:45 pm
