    • Jared Jones strikes out five in no-decision
Jared Jones pitched well in a tough-luck no-decision on Wednesday, limiting the Giants to three runs on six hits over his six innings of work.

Advice: The 22-year-old punched out five batters on the evening while allowing three walks. The Giants didn’t break through against him until Jorge Soler smacked an RBI single in the fifth inning. He then served up a two-run bomb to Matt Chapman in the sixth. Jones generated 16 swings and misses on 93 pitches on the night — seven of those on his slider — while registering a strong CSW of 32 percent. The rookie right-hander will carry an impressive 3.05 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and a 68/10 K/BB ratio (59 innings) into Tuesday’s matchup against the Tigers in Detroit. Rotoworld 13 minutes ago

    • Ryan Pepiot shaky in return
Ryan Pepiot allowed three earned runs across four innings in his return to the Rays’ rotation. He walked four and struck out three against the Red Sox on Wednesday.

Advice: Pepiot had been on the shelf since May 5th after a Starling Marte line drive struck his leg and sent him to the IL. He was cruising early, but unraveled a bit in the fifth inning allowing the first three batters to reach base before being pulled. Both of his inherited runners came around to score. Pepiot leaned on his fastball, throwing it for two thirds of his pitches, and didn’t seem to have the best feel of his slider as the Red Sox swung and missed at it just once. Rotoworld 39 minutes ago

    • Michael King posts quality start in win over Reds
Michael King logged a quality start in Wednesday’s victory over the Reds, allowing three runs on three hits over his 6 2/3 frames.

Advice: King struck out six batters on the night while issuing a pair of walks. The inconsistent right-hander has made a habit of winning in tough spots this year, and against the Reds in Cincinnati would certainly qualify. He served up a solo homer to Jeimer Candelario in the opening inning, then gave up a two-out, two-run double to Tyler Stephenson in the six. King generated 12 swings and misses on 92 pitches on the night — eight of those on his changeup — while posting a CSW of 30 percent. He’ll look to keep the good times rolling as he carries a 4.33 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and a 67/28 K/BB ratio (61 innings) into Monday’s matchup against the Marlins. Rotoworld Today, 5:54 pm

    • Dealing with elbow discomfort
Means was removed from Wednesday's start against the Cardinals due to left elbow discomfort and will undergo medical testing, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The injury wasn't immediately reported as the left-hander's departure after three innings coincided with a rain delay. Means entered the contest with an average fastball velocity of 90.9 mph this season, but he sat two ticks below that Wednesday. The 31-year-old missed most of last season while rehabbing from Tommy John surgery and a back injury, so another elbow issue could be a significant concern. Rotowire.com Today, 3:19 pm

    • John Means exits with elbow discomfort Wednesday
John Means was pulled from Wednesday’s start against the Cardinals after three innings due to discomfort in his elbow.

Advice: Means exhibited diminished velocity through the first three innings on Wednesday and was then removed after a lengthy rain delay. Orioles’ manager Brandon Hyde told reporters afterwards though that Means would have been done regardless of the rain. He’ll undergo further testing on his elbow to determine the severity of the issue. Fingers crossed. Rotoworld Today, 3:03 pm

    • John Means struggles with velocity on Wednesday
Despite diminished velocity, John Means tossed three scoreless innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Cardinals.

Advice: Means was probably done for the day regardless after a lengthy rain delay halted play in the middle of the fourth inning, but it’s worth noting that the MASN broadcast showed him shaking his arm on several occasions and his average velocity was down to just 88.9 mph from 90.9 mph earlier this season. He allowed just one hit, issued a pair of walks and struck out one. There should be some clarity on his status at some point in the near future. Rotoworld Today, 2:49 pm

    • Activated ahead of start
The Rays activated Pepiot (lower leg) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday versus the Red Sox in Tampa.

Advice: Pepiot will rejoin the rotation Wednesday after missing the previous two weeks with a lower left leg contusion. The right-hander didn't make a rehab start, so it's possible he will be relatively limited from a pitch-count perspective versus Boston. Pepiot will bring a 3.68 ERA and nifty 41:11 K:BB over 36.2 innings into Wednesday's proceedings. Rotowire.com Today, 9:52 am

    • Rejoining rotation Wednesday
Pepiot (lower leg) will be reinstated from the 15-day injured list to start Wednesday against the Red Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: The 26-year-old righty landed on the shelf with a bruised lower left leg after his May 5 start versus the Mets, but he'll return Wednesday after being sidelined for the 15-day minimum. Any workload limitations for Pepiot will likely be minor, given the brevity of his absence. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:22 pm
