    • Josh Sborz (shoulder) ready for bullpen session
Josh Sborz (shoulder) is set to throw a bullpen session on Wednesday.

Advice: It’s the first time that the 30-year-old hurler has done so since landing on the injured list with a right rotator cuff strain in early May. He’ll need to repeat the process a couple of times before he’s ready for a minor league rehab assignment. As long as he avoids any setbacks along the way, it sounds like Sborz could be ready to rejoin the Rangers’ bullpen before the end of the month. Rotoworld 11 minutes ago

    • Cody Bradford (back) throwing from 120 feet
Cody Bradford (back) is now throwing from a distance of 120 feet as he continues to work his way back from a stress fracture.

Advice: The 26-year-old southpaw is reportedly feeling much better than he was prior to being shut down. There’s still no clear timeline for a potential return, but he should be ready for bullpen work soon. If he’s able to avoid any additional setbacks, he could be an option for the Rangers around the All-Star break. Rotoworld 12 minutes ago

    • Remains in rotation
Vasquez is scheduled to start Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks at Petco Park, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Advice: Neither Yu Darvish (groin) nor Joe Musgrove (elbow) is eligible to return from the 15-day injured list until next weekend, so Vasquez will unsurprisingly stick around in the San Diego rotation for another turn. After being called up from Triple-A El Paso, Vasquez started in last Saturday's win over the Royals, giving up three runs on four hits and one walk while striking out five in five innings. He maintains a 5.74 ERA and 1.61 WHIP over 26.2 innings in six starts for the big club on the season. Rotowire.com 13 minutes ago
    • Ryan Helsley nets 20th save Wednesday vs. Astros
Ryan Helsley struck out two in a perfect ninth inning on Wednesday against the Astros to record his major league-leading 20th save of the season.

Advice: There haven’t been a ton of save opportunities recently for Helsley in recent weeks, with just five chances over the last two weeks. However, he’s converted 20 of his 21 save opportunities this season to accompany a sparkling 2.33 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 29/6 K/BB ratio across 27 innings (27 appearances). He got the call to protect a two-run margin in this one and needed just eight pitches (seven strikes) to slam the door. Rotoworld 30 minutes ago
    • Ronel Blanco allows four runs in loss to Cards
Ronel Blanco gave up four runs over 5 2/3 innings on Wednesday in a loss to the Cardinals.

Advice: Blanco has cooled off a bit of late after opening the season in dominant fashion, failing to complete six frames in five of his last seven starts since April 27. He gave up five hits, including a solo homer to Nolan Arenado, and finished with only a pair of strikeouts in this one, his lowest single-start total of the year. He’ll bring a solid 2.78 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 59/27 K/BB ratio across 64 2/3 innings (11 starts) into a road matchup on Tuesday against the Giants at Oracle Park. Rotoworld 31 minutes ago

    • Nick Pivetta delivers gem in 9-0 win over Braves
Nick Pivetta allowed only one hit over seven innings Wednesday as the Red Sox shut out the Braves 9-0.

Advice: Pivetta fanned nine and walked two in his longest outing of the year. In eight starts this season, he’s been great three times, good three times and bad twice, which probably should have produced something better than a 3-4 record. He might be more valuable for fantasy purposes in the second half of the season, as the Red Sox will likely cash him in before he hits free agency. Rotoworld 36 minutes ago

    • Ray Kerr surrenders two runs in relief
Pitching in relief after starting his last two times out, Ray Kerr allowed two runs in 2 1/3 innings of work Wednesday against the Red Sox.

Advice: Kerr is still in the mix as the Braves’ sixth starter, but the Braves declined to use him this time through. In consideration is starting him Sunday and pushing back Max Fried. It also remains to be seen whether the Braves will stick with Spencer Schwellenbach. Rotoworld 36 minutes ago

    • Struggling of late
Matsui (3-2) took the loss against the Angels on Tuesday, allowing three runs on one hit and two walks without retiring a batter.

Advice: Adam Mazur gave San Diego six innings of one-run ball in his MLB debut, but Matsui wasn't able to keep the game tied upon entering in the seventh. The lefty reliever issued two walks around an infield single to load the bases, and all three runners came around to score after his departure. The rough outing came two days after Matsui blew a save opportunity against the Royals, giving up three runs while retiring just one batter as the ninth-inning option of choice while regular closer Robert Suarez -- who had pitched on consecutive days -- was unavailable. Prior to the pair of ugly appearances, Matsui held a solid 2.88 ERA, but that mark now sits at 4.97. Rotowire.com 52 minutes ago
    • Mets shift Fujinami to 60-day IL
Mets transferred RHP Shintaro Fujinami from the 15-day to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: The move opens up a 40-man roster spot for Joe Hudson. Fujinami, who struggled mightily for Triple-A Syracuse at the beginning of the season, has been sidelined since May 3 with a shoulder strain. Rotoworld Today, 11:51 am
