    • David Bednar struggles again, allows walk-off HR
David Bednar didn’t record an out while giving up a three-run homer and picking up a loss to the Giants on Friday.

Advice: Oof. Bednar walked Michael Conforto to open the ninth, and after walking Matt Chapman, the 29-year-old gave up a three-run homer to Patrick Bailey to turn a 0-0 game into a 3-0 win for the Giants. This is already the third appearance of the year where Bednar has allowed three or more runs, and that helps explain why his ERA is now 12.00. There’s lots of reasons to expect Bednar to bounce back in the summer months, but fantasy managers have the right to be frustrated with how he’s pitched in April. Rotoworld 27 minutes ago
    • Coughs up four homers
Musgrove (3-3) allowed seven runs on eight hits and two walks over 3.2 innings Friday, striking out four and taking a loss against the Phillies.

Advice: Musgrove was cursed by the long ball Friday. He gave up a leadoff shot to Kyle Schwarber to begin the game before Philadelphia crushed three more homers during a four-run third inning. Musgrove is still searching for some consistency and his ERA has shot up to 6.94 through seven starts (35 innings). While he's struck out more than five batters just one time in 2024, he set a new season best by forcing 15 whiffs Friday, including seven with the slider. Musgrove will carry a lackluster 27:13 K:BB into his next outing, which is projected to be at home against the Reds. Rotowire.com 49 minutes ago

    • Joe Musgrove shelled over 3 2/3 in loss to PHI
Joe Musgrove gave up seven runs in 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Phillies on Friday.

Advice: Giving up eight hits while not getting out of the fourth inning. Giving up four homers in that time is worse. Musgrove simply didn’t have it Friday night against the loaded Philadelphia lineup, and a starter who had been just so-so coming into the outing was much worse than that. Musgrove will work on lowering his 6.94 ERA against the Reds on Wednesday. Rotoworld 50 minutes ago

    • Luis Gil allows five over five in no-decision
Luis Gil gave up five runs in as many innings of work with six strikeouts in a no-decision against the Brewers on Friday.

Advice: Gil had one of his better days in terms of control with just two walks and 62-of-97 pitches landing in the strike zone. The 25-year-old didn’t have his best command, however, and gave up a pair of homers in a start where he was shaky — at best — throughout the contest. Gil will be back on the bump next week with a 4.01 ERA against the Orioles. Rotoworld Today, 8:28 pm

    • Vladimir Guerrero Jr. goes 0-for-4 in defeat
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. finished 0-for-4 with an RBI against the Dodgers on Friday.

Advice: Typical Guerrero this year: he crushed a pair of grounders at 109.5 and 106.7 mph, yet his two flies were both hit softly. Statcast thinks he’s been unlucky, and he probably has been, but even his xBA and xSLG are down significantly from last year. Rotoworld Today, 6:56 pm
    • Drives in three runs
Witt went 1-for-4 with a triple, three RBI and a run scored during Friday's 8-0 win at Detroit.

Advice: The 23-year-old started the scoring with a sacrifice fly during the third inning and added a two-run triple as part of a seven-run ninth for the Royals. Witt is in a bit of a power drought with no homers in his past 14 games, though he does have six RBI and three steals over his last four contests. Rotowire.com Today, 2:59 pm
    • Bobby Witt Jr. plates three runs to lead Royals
Bobby Witt Jr. went 1-for-4 with a triple and three RBI on Friday afternoon, propelling the Royals to an 8-0 victory over the Tigers in Detroit.

Advice: The 23-year-old superstar opened the scoring in the third inning with a sacrifice fly off of Reese Olson. That would be the only run scored for either side until the Royals broke the game open with a seven-run ninth inning. Witt featured heavily in that frame, crushing a three-run triple off of Will Vest and scoring on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Vinnie Pasquantino. He has lived up to his lofty fantasy draft status so far this season — slashing .306/.350/.565 with four homers, 14 RBI and seven stolen bases through his first 27 games. Rotoworld Today, 1:26 pm
    • Has torn cartilage in ribcage
Casas revealed Friday that he's dealing with torn cartilage in his left ribcage, not a fractured rib as had been previously reported, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: The injury is an unusual one and carries a wide range of potential recovery timelines, with Casas saying it could be anywhere from three to nine weeks before he's cleared for cardio and strengthening activities. Once that happens, he would presumably need a few more weeks before he's game-ready. Casas did add that he's very optimistic he'll be back at some point this season, it's just unclear when that might be. Bobby Dalbec is currently filling in at first base for the Red Sox. • Casas (rib) suffered torn cartilage, not fracture
Triston Casas told reporters that he didn’t fracture his rib, but rather suffered torn cartilage.

Advice: It’s a bit of a twist for Casas’ injury that was initially reported as a broken rib, but the 24-year-old is dealing with torn cartilage that is a bit unusual with a non-contact injury. Despite the change of diagnosis, Casas’ timetable to return is still very much in question ranging from three weeks to nine weeks before he can start ramping up for his return. He was optimistic that he can return this season, but for the time being, it’s a huge loss for the Boston’s lineup and fantasy managers. Rotoworld Today, 12:45 pm
