    • Records four-out save
Hader earned a save against the Yankees on Thursday, allowing one hit and striking out one batter over 1.1 scoreless innings.

Advice: Hader was called upon with two outs and a runner on first with Houston protecting a one-run lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. He got Anthony Rizzo to pop out to end the frame, then completed the save with a scoreless ninth despite allowing a leadoff single. It was just the second time this season Hader was asked to get more than three outs, though he kept his workload relatively light by throwing 14 of his 18 pitches for strikes. The veteran closer's 5.63 ERA so far is well below his career standard, but he has converted four of his five save chances and has 25 punchouts over 16 frames. Rotowire.com Thursday, 11:10 pm

    • Josh Hader notches four-out save against Yankees
Josh Hader recorded a four-out save on Thursday against the Yankees.

Advice: Hader came on to record the final out of the eighth inning before heading back out to spin a scoreless ninth inning to collect his fourth save of the season. The 30-year-old lefty has converted four of five save chances in his Astros debut so far to go along with a bloated 5.63 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 25/7 K/BB ratio across 16 innings (16 appearances). There’s zero reason for concern here moving forward as he continues to miss bats at an elite rate. Rotoworld Thursday, 5:05 pm

    • Set for another rehab appearance
Fairbanks (arm) will make a second rehab appearance with Triple-A Durham on Thursday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Rays were uncommitted to Fairbanks' status after he made an initial rehab appearance Tuesday. Assuming Thursday's outing goes according to plan, he may be back with the team as soon as this weekend's series against the Yankees. Rotowire.com Thursday, 8:56 am
    • Pete Fairbanks will make another rehab appearance
Rays’ manager Kevin Cash told reporters on Wednesday that Pete Fairbanks will make another minor league rehab appearance at Triple-A Durham on Thursday.

Advice: The 30-year-old right-hander allowed two hits and struck out a batter over a scoreless inning of work in his first appearance. It’s possible, if all goes well on Thursday, that he could be cleared to return to the Rays’ bullpen for their weekend series against the Yankees. Rotoworld Wednesday, 4:36 pm
    • May get another rehab outing
Rays manager Kevin Cash said Tuesday that the team will discuss whether Fairbanks (arm) will be activated or make another rehab appearance, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Fairbanks allowed two hits but completed a scoreless inning with Triple-A Durham on Tuesday. He averaged 97.3 mph with his four-seamer in the appearance, which is up a bit from his season average. It sounds like Fairbanks could be back as soon as the weekend series against the Yankees, but that decision hasn't been announced yet. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 6:55 am
    • Rays send Pete Fairbanks on rehab assignment
Rays send RHP Pete Fairbanks (nerve issue) on a rehab assignment to Triple-A Durham.

Advice: Fairbanks has been sidelined since April 22 after he was placed on the injured list due to a nerve-related condition. He’ll get his first rehab start in Durham since being sidelined and if everything goes to plan, the 30-year-old hurler should be back with Tampa Bay in the next week or so. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:37 am
    • Takes loss against Mariners
Hader (1-3) allowed a solo home run and struck out one to take the loss Sunday against the Mariners.

Advice: Hader entered the game in the ninth inning with the score tied 4-4. He retired the first batter he faced but then served up the go-ahead homer to Cal Raleigh. Hader had turned in three consecutive appearances without giving up an earned run prior to Sunday, though he's now been charged with at least one run in six of his 15 appearances. • Josh Hader yields go-ahead homer in ninth
Josh Hader lost after giving up a go-ahead homer in a tie game Sunday against the Mariners.

Advice: It’s the save situations in which Hader has struggled, but the loss today came after he was asked to preserve a tie. Cal Raleigh’s homer was the second surrendered by Hader in 14 2/3 innings this year. Given that his strikeout rate remains exceptional and his groundball rate is actually considerably higher than usual, we’re still not worried about Hader at all. Rotoworld May 5, 3:01 pm

    • Cole Irvin turns in another scoreless start in win
Cole Irvin allowed only a pair of hits over 6 1/3 innings Friday in the Orioles’ 3-0 shutout of the Reds.

Advice: It’s Irvin’s third straight scoreless start. His stint in the rotation figured to be a short one with Kyle Bradish and John Means on the IL to open the year, but he’s gained a reprieve with Grayson Rodriguez and Tyler Wells going down and he’s making the most of it, having gone 3-1 with a 2.86 ERA to date.
