    • Candelario has two-hit game in loss Saturday
Jeimer Candelario went 2-for-5 with an RBI against the Cubs on Saturday.

Advice: It was a relatively quiet night for the Reds offense. Despite scoring five runs, four of them were unearned thanks to an error by Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki. Candelario chipped in later with an RBI single. After hitting .189 in April, he hit .247 with three home runs in 24 games in May. Candelario has had a wRC+ of at least 117 in two of the previous three seasons. Look for him to get hot with the bat again soon. Rotoworld Saturday, 10:45 pm

    • Jeimer Candelario back in the lineup on Monday
Jeimer Candelario (neck) is back in the lineup on Monday against the Cardinals.

Advice: Candelario missed two games with a neck injury but is back in the lineup at third base and hitting third in the order. The 30-year-old has been turning the corner a bit in May, slashing .257/.313/.432 in 20 games in May with two home runs, 10 RBI, and just a 16.3 percent strikeout rate. He seems like a good bet to go on a hot streak in the coming weeks. Rotoworld Monday, 11:29 am

    • Back in lineup Monday
Candelario (neck) is in the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals.

Advice: He was scratched from Saturday's lineup due to neck stiffness and held out Sunday as well, but evidently Candelario is feeling better. The 30-year-old will return to third base and bat third against right-hander Lance Lynn. While the rest of the Reds' offense has sunk in May, Candelario has rebounded with an .835 OPS, five doubles and a couple homers in his last 17 games. Rotowire.com Monday, 9:50 am

    • Still out Sunday
Candelario (neck) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

Advice: Candelario will miss out on a second straight start due to neck stiffness, but he said he'll be available off the bench for the series finale, per Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer. Santiago Espinal will fill in at third base for Candelario. Rotowire.com May 26, 7:10 am

    • Jeimer Candelario out Sunday with neck issue
Jeimer Candelario (neck) is out Sunday against the Dodgers.

Advice: Candelario was scratched from the lineup Saturday with stiffness in his neck, and he’ll miss at least one more game. Santiago Espinal gets the start in Candelario’s absence. Rotoworld May 26, 7:08 am

    • Scratched Saturday
Candelario was scratched from the Reds' lineup Saturday due to neck stiffness.

Advice: The Reds haven't provided any information on the severity of Candelario's injury, but it is apparently bothering him enough to hold him out of Saturday's contest. Santiago Espinal will enter the lineup to cover third base while batting ninth. Rotowire.com May 25, 3:21 pm

    • Jeimer Candelario scratched due to neck stiffness
Jeimer Candelario was scratched from the Reds’ starting lineup on Saturday due to stiffness in his neck.

Advice: The issue is believed to be minor and the 30-year-old infielder is considered day-to-day. Santiago Espinal will start in his place at the hot corner and will bat ninth for the Reds against Walker Buehler and the Dodgers on Saturday evening in Cincinnati. Rotoworld May 25, 3:07 pm

    • Triston Casas on track to start swinging next week
Triston Casas (rib) told reporters Saturday that he’s on track to resume swinging a bat next week.

Advice: Casas has been on the shelf, and unable to resume hitting at all, since suffering torn cartilage in his left rib cage back in mid-April. The 24-year-old slugger doesn’t have a firm return timetable yet, but the fact that he’ll resume swinging soon provides some optimism that he’ll be ready to return when first eligible on June 21. • Taking grounders
Casas (ribs) took grounders at first base Friday, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Casas began throwing during Boston's previous homestand and has also been running and lifting. The next step for Casas will be swinging a bat, which requires rotation and puts more stress on the ribs and torso. No target date has been set for that yet. Rotowire.com May 25, 6:09 am
