    • Hitting bench Sunday
Garver is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers.

Advice: Garver had started each of the past five games at either designated hitter or catcher, going just 2-for-18 but drawing seven walks over that stretch. The 33-year-old's .646 OPS still represents a more than 200-point downturn from his 2023 mark with the Rangers (.870), but Garver still looks like he'll play frequently against left-handed pitching and fairly regularly against right-handed pitching. • Smashes homer in win
Garver went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and two walks in Friday's 3-2 win over the Rangers.

Advice: Garver is up to eight homers this season, and he's hit three of them over his last eight games. In that stretch, he's batting .250 (6-for-24) with eight RBI and two doubles. It's encouraging to see more power out of the 33-year-old -- he went 18 games without a homer between May 13 and June 5. Garver is slashing a poor .176/.300/.352 across 230 plate appearances this season, though he's added 25 RBI, 23 runs scored and 10 doubles while seeing fairly steady playing time at designated hitter. • Mitch Garver connects on two-run homer in win
Mitch Garver hit a two-run homer to help the Mariners to a 3-2 win over the Rangers on Friday.

Advice: Garver tied the game at 2-2 in the first inning with a blast that scored J-Rod in the first inning. The veteran backstop/DH has been swinging the bat much better as of late, and he’s now homered eight times with 25 RBI. Garver’s slash of .176/.300/.352 isn’t aesthetically pleasing, but again, those numbers aren’t indicative of the last few weeks. Rotoworld Friday, 9:39 pm

    • Keibert Ruiz gets rare day off for Nationals
Keibert Ruiz is out of the Nationals lineup for the first time since June 1 in Thursday’s matinee against the Tigers.

Advice: Drew Millas will catch. Ruiz had DH’d twice in the last two weeks, but not today. While Ruiz did hit a huge three-run homer against the Braves on Sunday, he’s batting just .200/.236/.294 for the season. Rotoworld Thursday, 7:36 am

    • Getting rest Thursday
Ruiz is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Tigers, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Advice: He'll be getting some rest for the Thursday afternoon contest after he caught all nine innings of Wednesday's 7-5 win while going 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Drew Millas will get a turn behind the plate while Ruiz hits the bench. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:36 am

    • Mitch Garver takes a seat Monday
Mitch Garver is on the bench Monday after going 4-for-13 with two homers and five walks the last four days.

Advice: Garver’s little hot streak, which raised his OPS from .572 to .630, hasn’t put him back in the lineup on a full-time basis just yet. The Marlins have Mitch Haniger DHing tonight. Rotoworld Monday, 2:28 pm

    • Homers, drives in four
Ruiz went 1-for-3 with a home run and four RBI Sunday against Atlanta.

Advice: Ruiz hammered a three-run blast in the fourth to give the Nationals a lead they would never relinquish. He later added a fourth RBI on a sac fly in the fifth that provided the Nationals with their eighth and final run of the contest. It was the fourth homer of the season for Ruiz to go along with 17 RBI and 16 runs as he's struggled to a .202 average through 163 at-bats. Rotowire.com Jun 9, 8:11 pm

    • Keibert Ruiz drives in four in win over ATL
Keibert Ruiz went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer in a win over the Braves on Sunday.

Advice: With the Nationals up 1-0 in the fourth inning, Ruiz turned on an inside fastball from Hurston Waldrep crushing it 100.3 mph on a line for a three-run homer. It was Ruiz’s fourth home run of the season and a good reminder that he does have a bit of pop in his bat. The 25-year-old was off to a slow start in June, but had turned the corner in May after missing the start of the season with an illness. While his season-long stats don’t look great, but remains on the radar in one-catcher formats. Rotoworld Jun 9, 2:06 pm

    • Blasts solo home run
Garver went 1-for-3 with a home run and a walk in Saturday's loss to the Royals.

Advice: The designated hitter took Alec Marsh deep in the fifth inning to tie up the score. It was Garver's seventh homer of the season and his second in his last three games. Garver has struggled to the tune of a .180/.292/.348 line thus far, but he may be starting to turn it around with eight RBI and four extra-base hits over his last six games.
