• Mediocre performance in defeat
Medina (0-2) took the loss against Minnesota on Thursday, allowing four runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out three batters over five innings.

Advice: Medina had much better control after issuing five walks across 4.2 frames in his previous start, but his overall stat line wasn't significantly improved. The right-hander took his second straight loss Thursday, giving up a season-high eight hits while striking out just three batters. Medina looked great in his first start of the campaign June 2 against Atlanta with no earned runs allowed over 5.2 innings, but he's yielded 10 earned runs across 9.2 frames since. • Records quality start in victory
Ryan (5-5) earned the win over Oakland on Thursday, allowing two runs on three hits and one walk while striking out five batters over seven innings.

Advice: Ryan surrendered a two-run homer to Tyler Soderstrom in the second inning, but those were the only runs the A's managed against the righty hurler. Ryan finished with a stat line very similar to his previous outing, when he gave up two runs on three hits over seven frames versus Pittsburgh, though that performance came in a losing effort. The 28-year-old pitcher has four quality starts over his past five appearances and has posted a 2.73 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 32:7 K:BB across 33 frames during that span. Rotowire.com Today, 12:42 am

  • Returns with loss Thursday
Munoz (back) picked up the loss in the Mariners' extra-inning defeat against the White Sox, allowing an unearned run in the 10th inning.

Advice: Munoz allowed a walk and a hit, with the go-ahead unearned run scoring on a fielder's choice scoring the automatic runner. The good news was that Munoz didn't allow much in the way of hard contact and generated three swings-and-misses among his 17 pitches, 11 of which were strikes. Rotowire.com Today, 12:42 am
  • Homers, swipes bag in loss
Chisholm went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a stolen base in Thursday's loss to the Mets.

Advice: Chisholm gave the Marlins a 2-0 lead with his seventh inning solo shot, but the Mets ultimately rallied for the victory on a J.D. Martinez walk-off blast. The long ball was Chisholm's 10th of the season, and he notched his 13th stolen base in the contest as well. The talented center fielder is one of nine major-leaguers to reach double-digit homers and steals so far this season. Rotowire.com Today, 12:36 am
  • Belts first career walk-off homer
Martinez went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a double Thursday in a 3-2 win against the Marlins.

Advice: Martinez accounted for both of New York's extra-base hits in the victory, with his first knock being a seventh-inning double that contributed to the team's first run. The veteran slugger's second hit was more dramatic -- he took Miami closer Tanner Scott deep for a two-run, walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth inning. It was Martinez's 321st career long ball and the first walk-off home run of his 14-year career. He's gone deep six times through 168 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Today, 12:32 am
  • Blows save opportunity Thursday
Scott (5-5) took the loss and blew a save against the Mets on Thursday, allowing two runs on one hit and one walk while striking out one batter over one-third of an inning.

Advice: Scott was 8-for-9 in save chances coming into Thursday and hadn't blown a save since mid-April. In fact, he had rattled off 19 straight outings without allowing an earned run, racking up five wins and seven saves during that stretch. However, the southpaw couldn't protect a one-run, ninth-inning lead versus New York, issuing a leadoff walk to Francisco Lindor before serving up a walk-off two-run blast to J.D. Martinez two batters later. Despite the implosion Thursday, Scott has pitched well enough this season to not currently be in danger of losing his closing role. Rotowire.com Today, 12:27 am
  • Holds Mets to one hit in six frames
Munoz pitched six scoreless innings in a no-decision against the Mets on Thursday, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out five batters.

Advice: Munoz remained in the rotation despite struggling in his previous start, and that decision paid off for Miami as the rookie right-hander recorded the best start of his big-league career. The only hit Munoz allowed was a sixth-inning single by Harrison Bader, and Bader was soon wiped out trying to steal. Munoz was in line for the win when he departed following that frame, but he had to settle for a no-decision due to a ninth-inning implosion by closer Tanner Scott. Munoz will almost certainly remain in the rotation for the time being given his fantastic outing Wednesday, though he could eventually be pushed back to the minors with the returns of Edward Cabrera (shoulder), Ryan Weathers (finger) and Sixto Sanchez (shoulder). • Grabs steal in win
Siani went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Pirates.

Advice: Siani is batting just .207 (6-for-29) over 12 games in June, which is right in line with his .206 average for the season. He's added seven steals, one home run, nine RBI and 16 runs scored over 148 plate appearances. Siani has remained the Cardinals' primary center fielder over Dylan Carlson, and he should remain in that role with Lars Nootbaar (oblique) likely to be out for at least another week. • Picks up first win
Roycroft (1-0) allowed a hit but didn't given up a run over two-thirds of an inning, earning the win Thursday over the Pirates.

Advice: Roycroft gave up four runs over six innings during his first stint on the Cardinals' roster, but he's been much better the second time around. He's on a 5.1-inning scoreless streak over his last five appearances, allowing just three hits with a 6:0 K:BB in that span. The 26-year-old right-hander has posted a 3.18 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 12:4 K:BB through 11.1 innings overall while serving in a low-leverage role. Roycroft has been steady, but he's at risk of losing his place in the majors soon, as Giovanny Gallegos (shoulder) and Riley O'Brien (forearm) are on rehab assignments while Nick Robertson (elbow) has resumed mound work within the last week.
