    • Nestor Cortes lasts five innings in win
      Nestor Cortes pitched five scoreless innings on Wednesday against the Mariners. He scattered three hits and three walks while striking out six and earning the win.

      Advice: Cortes had a tougher time in this one than the box score would suggest as the Mariners put men on base in each of the first four innings with a handful of runners in scoring position.     • Shut down for two weeks
      Manager Craig Counsell said Wednesday that Alzolay (forearm) will be shut down from throwing for at least two weeks, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.

      Advice: Alzolay went in for a second opinion on his right flexor strain Tuesday, and the damage appears to be serious enough to warrant a shutdown.
