    Advice: The 31-year-old southpaw gave up three runs over 4 1/3 innings his last time out on Tuesday, racking up five strikeouts and throwing a total of 79 pitches (53 strikes).     Advice: He’ll replace Ryder Ryan in the Pirates’ bullpen after Ryan was optioned out following Thursday’s game. The 25-year-old hurler was off to a brilliant start at Triple-A, registering a minuscule 0.84 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and a 13/9 K/BB ratio over 10 2/3 innings in his nine appearances.     Cobb (hip/elbow/shoulder) has been held back from throwing for the last few days due to soreness in his right shoulder, and he is set to see a team doctor Friday night, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.comreports.

    Advice: Cobb was shifted to the 60-day IL on April 20 to give him more time to recover from his multiple ailments. He underwent left hip surgery in the offseason and was progressing through his rehab assignment following spring training, but he has suffered another setback with right shoulder soreness this time.     Jhoan Duran (oblique) is scheduled to pitch in a minor league rehab game at Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday, after Friday’s scheduled appearance was rained out.

    Advice: As long as everything goes well with that outing, it sounds like the Twins’ closer could be cleared to make his 2024 season debut. Duran threw 27 pitches his last time out and should be expected to have a similar workload on Saturday. Nicolas has looked better in Triple-A this season, posting a 0.84 ERA and 2.06 WHIP over 10.2 innings, and he'll get another shot in Pittsburgh's bullpen.
