    • LIfted in ninth inning again
Kimbrel was pulled in the ninth frame of Wednesday's game against the Nationals and was charged with two runs on two walks and a hit over two-thirds of an inning, though he was credited with a hold.

Advice: Kimbrel was called upon to protect a two-run ninth-inning lead and initially appeared set to do so with little trouble, as he retired the first two batters he faced. However, Eddie Rosario then tagged the veteran closer for a solo home run, and Kimbrel followed with two straight walks before he was given the hook. Keegan Akin allowed one of the inherited runners to score, thus sending the game into extra frames. Though Kimbrel was credited with a hold, he was pulled in a save situation in the ninth inning for his second straight outing, so his hold on the closer role for Baltimore could be getting tenuous. Over his past five contests, Kimbrel has blown two saves in addition to being pulled from a save situation on two occasions, and he's allowed six earned runs while posting a 4:7 K:BB across 2.1 innings during that stretch. • Craig Kimbrel blows another save against Nationals
Craig Kimbrel suffered his third blown save of the season on Wednesday night, giving up two runs on a hit and two walks while recording just two outs.

Advice: The 35-year-old right-hander has not pitched well since dealing with back soreness, and perhaps the Orioles want to consider a stint on the injured list to sit him down and get him right. Kimbrel came on with a 3-1 lead in the ninth inning of this one and got the first two hitters in order, but then served up a solo homer to Eddie Rosario and then walked a pair of batters before turning the ball over to Keegan Akin who allowed a game-tying RBI single to CJ Abrams. Kimbrel now sports an unappealing 4.73 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and a 21/9 K/BB ratio over 13 1/3 innings of work on the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:41 pm

    • Suffers loss Wednesday
Lange (0-2) allowed an unearned run on one hit to take the loss in Wednesday's 5-4, 10-inning contest against the Guardians.

Advice: After recording the final out of the ninth inning, Lange had the unenviable task of pitching the bottom of the 10th with a runner starting on second base. The righty retired the first batter but then allowed a walk-off hit to Brayan Rocchio. There shouldn't be too much read into the loss, and Lange has pitched well all season, as he's sitting with a stellar 0.64 ERA across 14 innings. Lange should continue to see high-leverage work for the Tigers moving forward, and he could slide back into the closer role at some point if he keeps up the strong play. • Doubles twice, scores in loss
Carpenter went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored in Wednesday's 5-4, 10-inning loss to the Guardians.

Advice: Carpenter continued his solid play this season, as he's now batting .269 with an .801 OPS. He's collected eight doubles so far but only three home runs across 36 games. After breaking out for 20 long balls last year, Carpenter could dial up the power soon, which would only further enhance his fantasy value. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:28 pm

    • Alex Lange takes loss in 10th to Guardians
After the Tigers failed to score in the top of the inning, Alex Lange took a loss in the 10th against the Guardians on Wednesday.

Advice: The Tigers really mixed things up relief-wise in this one, turning to Jason Foley for two outs in the seventh and Joey Wentz for four outs through the eighth. Wentz allowed an unearned run, narrowing Detroit’s lead to one, and Andrew Chafin, given a rare chance to close, made that go away by giving up a homer to David Fry. Lange went on to get the final out of the ninth. In the 10th, he got an out on a sac bunt and then gave up the winning single. While Foley remains the favorite for saves in Detroit, it looks like this is going to be a frustrating situation going forward. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:37 pm

    • Back in action Wednesday
Moreno (illness) will start at catcher and bat seventh in Wednesday's game in Cincinnati.

Advice: Moreno missed Tuesday's 6-2 win because he was under the weather, but he's evidently feeling better and ready to give it a go Wednesday. The young catcher is still searching to find his offensive rhythm this season, as he's yet to slug a home run and will carry a .662 OPS into play Wednesday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:17 am
    • Lifts another homer
Naylor went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and two total runs scored in Tuesday's 11-7 loss to the Tigers.

Advice: Naylor has gone 6-for-24 with three homers and seven RBI over his last seven contests. He was swinging a hot bat earlier in the season, but he's traded a bit of contact for more power in recent weeks. Naylor is slashing .276/.364/.553 with nine homers, 28 RBI, 18 runs scored, seven doubles and two steals over 34 games. With top prospect Kyle Manzardo slumping to begin his major-league career, Naylor should continue to play on a near-everyday basis between first base and designated hitter. • Brewers activate Christian Yelich from 10-day IL
Brewers activated Christian Yelich (back) from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: Yelich is back in the lineup for the Brewers on Wednesday after he was sidelined for the last three weeks. The 32-year-old outfielder is off to a good start this season slashing .333/.422/.744 with five home runs and 11 RBI in his first 11 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:44 am

    • Activated, starting Wednesday
The Brewers reinstated Yelich (back) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday. He'll serve as the Brewers' designated hitter and will bat third in the team's series finale in Kansas City.

Advice: Milwaukee optioned infielder Tyler Black to Triple-A Nashville to clear room on the 26-man active roster for Yelich, who had been on the shelf since April 16 with a lower-back strain. Despite missing well beyond the minimum 10 days, Yelich will return to the lineup without having gone on a minor-league rehab assignment, as the Brewers were encouraged enough with how his back responded to baseball activities over the past few days to activate him. He'll be eased back into action in a non-defensive role, and Yelich could end up seeing more work at DH over the next week or two before gradually settling into his usual spot in left field.
