    • Griffin Canning takes loss after quality start
Griffin Canning surrendered three runs over 6 1/3 innings Friday in a loss to the Astros.

Advice: Canning’s velocity has been creeping back up after some April struggles, but his 16% strikeout rate is still way down from his career mark of 25%. If he’s traded to a team that has a better idea about how to get the most from its pitchers, he could be interesting down the stretch this year. If’s not likely to happen for him in Anaheim. • Knocked around in no-decision
Lynn did not factor into the decision in Friday's 8-5 win over the Rockies, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out six.

Advice: Lynn entered this start on a roll, tossing a 0.56 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 14:5 K:BB over 16 innings in his last three starts, but couldn't control a shaky Colorado lineup. This marks the fifth time the 37-year-old veteran has allowed four earned runs in an outing this year. His ERA now stands at 3.58 with a 1.38 WHIP in 65.1 innings. Lynn is scheduled to make his next start at home against Pittsburgh. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:00 pm

    • Strong in no-decision
Harris allowed three hits and two walks while striking out three over six scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Blue Jays on Friday.

Advice: Harris did well in his second start of the season, which ended up being a pitching duel against Toronto's Chris Bassitt. Harris previous allowed three runs (one earned) and struck out seven over 5.2 innings versus the Rays last Thursday. He's at a 2.21 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 18:8 K:BB through 20.1 innings over four appearances (two starts) this season. The southpaw looks to have done enough to maintain his spot in the rotation for a road start versus the Padres next week. Harris will likely continue to operate as a starter while the Athletics are missing both Ross Stripling (elbow) and Alex Wood (shoulder). Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:29 pm

    • Falls to 3-3
Criswell (3-3) yielded four runs (three earned) on five hits and a walk over 4.1 innings Friday, striking out two and taking a loss against the White Sox.

Advice: Criswell gave up one run through three frames before the White Sox plated three runs in the fourth inning. It was the third time in his last five outings that he's failed to complete at least five innings. During that stretch, he's posted a 6.45 ERA, driving his season number up to 4.13. Criswell is currently in line for a home matchup against the Yankees next week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:50 pm
    • Earns save Friday
Cannon allowed three hits over three scoreless innings Friday, striking out four and picking up a save against Boston.

Advice: Cannon entered the game with a 6-2 lead and threw 41 of 60 pitches for strikes on his way to earning his first MLB save. He was promoted from Triple-A Charlotte on Friday and made his first big-league appearance out of the bullpen after starting three games for the White Sox in April. Cannon was expected to be a back-end rotation piece after the promotion but he could be used in more of a long relief role for the time being. He owns a 5.94 ERA with a 17:4 K:BB through 16.2 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:39 pm
    • Jonathan Cannon gets three-inning save in return
Jonathan Cannon notched a save by pitching three scoreless inning to finish off Friday’s 7-2 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: Cannon, who was a starter in each of his previous three appearances for the White Sox, struck out four after being recalled from Triple-A earlier in the day. Expectations are that he’ll get another look in the rotation next week Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:30 pm
    • Cooper Criswell gives up four runs in loss
Cooper Criswell lost to the White Sox after allowing four runs — three earned — in 4 1/3 innings on Friday.

Advice: Criswell entered the night 3-2 with a 3.92 ERA, but by rule, this counts as three losses on his record. After a promising first month with the Red Sox, he’s given up 19 runs — 16 earned — in 22 1/3 innings in his last five outings. He’ll probably stay in the rotation for now, but the Red Sox could eventually have him swap spots with Chase Anderson or Brad Keller. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:30 pm
    • Austin Gomber allows four over five vs. Cardinals
Austin Gomber didn’t qualify for a decision after allowing four runs in five innings Friday against the Cardinals.

Advice: Gomber — a former St. Louis prospect who came to the Rockies in the Nolan Arenado deal — gave up six hits with one walk, and he struck out four. The left-hander gave up three runs in the first, and while he settled down over the final four frames, the damage was enough to prevent him from picking up a win or a Quality Start. Gomber has been shaky over his last two starts, but he still sports a healthy 3.38 ERA. His next chance is scheduled for Thursday against the Twins. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:27 pm
    • Lance Lynn gives up four over four in no-decision
Lance Lynn was charged for four runs in four innings in a no-decision Friday against the Rockies.

Advice: All four runs came in the fourth inning, and all on the same play. With the bases loaded, Lynn allowed a three-run triple to Michael Toglia, and Toglia picked up a Little League grand slam as he scored on an error. Lynn struck out six and walked two in a mediocre — at best — effort Friday night. His next start comes Thursday against the Pirates, assuming the rotation order stays the same.
