      Advice: Manager John Schneider said Romano's elbow has not recovered properly following his last outing Wednesday against the White Sox. The team is officially labeling his injury as "soreness" for now, but the Jays should have a better idea of what Romano is dealing with ahead of Saturday's contest.       Blue Jays manager John Schneider told reporters after Friday’s game that Jordan Romano was unavailable due to elbow soreness.

      Advice: The right-handers’ elbow didn’t bounce back after his last outing against the White Sox, which is seemingly cause for concern.       The Dodgers reinstated Phillips (hamstring) from the 15-day injured list Friday, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

      Advice: Phillips was forced onto the injured list May 5 after suffering a right hamstring strain. He's since thrown 1.2 innings of shutout ball while striking out three batters and walking none during a rehab assignment with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga. The 29-year-old right-hander should immediately retain his spot as the Dodgers' closer -- a role he thrived in prior to getting injured, giving up just one earned run in 13.2 frames while collecting eight saves.     • Dodgers activate Evan Phillips from 15-day IL
      Dodgers activated RHP Evan Phillips from the 15-day injured list.

      Advice: The 29-year-old closer finally returns to the Dodgers’ bullpen after landing on the injured list with a hamstring strain. While Daniel Hudson and Blake Treinen did a nice job in his absence, expect Phillips to jump right into the team’s ninth-inning role.       Finnegan picked up the save in a win over Atlanta on Thursday, pitching a scoreless ninth inning while striking out one and issuing a walk.

      Advice: Finnegan entered the game with a two-run lead in the ninth and issued a leadoff walk to Ozzie Albies to put himself in an early jam. However, the right-handed reliever was able to retire the next three batters in succession to notch his 15th save of the season. Finnegan now has three scoreless appearances since blowing the save against the Phillies on May 18, posting a 5:1 K:BB over that stretch.     • Finnegan picks up save against Atlanta on Thursday
      Kyle Finnegan fired a scoreless ninth inning to pick up a save Thursday versus Atlanta.

      Advice: That’s already the 15th save for Finnegan, who is currently on-pace to procure over 40 of them in 2024. Impressive regardless, but especially when you see the Nationals have only won 26 games. The 32-year-old right-hander also has a 1.64 ERA, so it’s fair to say he’s pitched well in those chances.     • Fans seven in no-decision
      Pepiot allowed two runs on three hits and one walk while striking out seven batters over 5.2 innings in a no-decision against Oakland on Wednesday.

      Advice: Pepiot appeared on his way to a quality start after giving up one run through five frames, but he was pulled with two outs in the sixth after allowing two batters to reach base, and one came around to score after his departure. Still, this was a positive step forward in the right-hander's second game back following a stint on the injured list.       Romano allowed one run on one hit and struck out one over one inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 3-1 win over the White Sox.

      Advice: Romano had enough of a cushion that he was able to get away with allowing a solo home run to Korey Lee. This was the second outing in a row in which Romano's given up a homer. The right-hander is 8-for-9 in save chances this season while pitching to a shaky 6.59 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 13:4 K:BB over 13.2 innings. He's yet to go more than two outings in a row without giving up a run, so while he remains the Blue Jays' closer, his appearances have often included a dash of drama.       Jordan Romano surrendered a solo home run and struck out a batter in a save against the White Sox on Wednesday.

      Advice: The homer was the fourth Romano has allowed as he continues his shaky season. It would’ve been nice to see a clean outing in this one, especially on the heels of his implosion in Detroit on Sunday.
