      Zach Neto hit a two-run homer Monday to lead the Angels to a 5-3 win over the Brewers.

      Advice: Angels manager Ron Washington has utterly refused to hit Neto in the top half of the order, but the 23-year-old has been one of the team’s best players in batting .249/.297/.440 with 10 homers in 260 plate appearances. He’s not yet a finished product and it’s possible he’ll struggle to reach his true potential while playing for one of MLB’s most dysfunctional franchises, but the sky really is the limit here.       Garrett struck out six and allowed one run on five hits and no walks over six innings in a no-decision during Monday's extra-innings loss to the Cardinals.

      Advice: Garrett served up a solo homer to Mike Siani in the fifth inning that turned out to be his only mistake in an otherwise stellar showing. The left-hander didn't issue a walk, making it the fourth time in his seven starts this season that he didn't allow a free pass. The 26-year-old has been inconsistent, as he has allowed four or more earned runs in four of his starts but has given up just two total runs in his other three appearances.       Advice: De La Cruz produced his fifth three-hit effort of the season Monday. He has multi-hit games in three of his last four and a stolen base in three straight contests. The 22-year-old now has 37 steals through 72 games this season, which puts him on pace to reach 80 thefts by the end of the campaign. Bednar had a disastrous start to the season with 14 earned runs allowed in his first 13 outings, but he's turned it around with a 1.88 ERA over his last 19.1 innings.       Braxton Garrett yielded one run over six innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Cardinals.

      Advice: Garrett recorded six strikeouts and held the Cardinals to just a fifth-inning solo homer by Michael Siani over six strong frames. It was a much-needed rebound effort for the 26-year-old lefty after being tagged for 11 runs (nine earned) over his previous two starts against the Mets and Rays, respectively.       Elly De La Cruz went 3-for-4 with his 37th stolen base of the season on Monday in the Reds’ loss to the Pirates.

      Advice: De La Cruz was one of the few bright spots in this one as Cincinnati’s offense was almost completely shut down by Pirates rookie ace Paul Skenes into the late innings of the first meeting between the two division rivals this year. The 22-year-old middle infielder remains on pace to steal roughly 80 bases this season as he’s picked it up on the bases recently, notching at least one theft in three straight contests.       David Bednar tossed a perfect frame on Monday against the Reds to record his 15th save of the season.

      Advice: Bednar was summoned to protect a three-run lead in the final frame and required just 11 pitches (eight strikes) to spin a flawless frame. It was a nice rebound effort for the 29-year-old stopper after giving up solo homers in each of his previous two appearances. He’s converted 15 of his 18 save opportunities on the year.
