• Zack Wheeler collects win over Angels on Wednesday
Zack Wheeler struck out six and yielded one run over five innings on Wednesday in a win over the Angels.

Advice: Wheeler did what he does best out in Los Angeles, pounding the strike zone and limiting hard contact against an injury-depleted Angels lineup. The 33-year-old fantasy ace threw 67 of 106 pitches for strikes and allowed just five batted balls with an exit velocity in excess of 95 mph. A second-inning solo shot from veteran utility specialist Ehire Adrianza represented the lone tally against him over five frames. He’s allowed just one run over 18 1/3 innings in his last three starts since April 20. He’ll bring a sparkling 1.91 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 52/12 K/BB ratio across 42 1/3 innings (seven starts) into a home outing on Wednesday against the Blue Jays. Rotoworld Wednesday, 4:06 pm

  • Placed on injured list
The Red Sox placed Yoshida on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left thumb strain, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: MRI results revealed a strain in Yoshida's left thumb after he jammed his hand during Sunday's game against the Cubs, and there is no telling whether or not the 30-year-old outfielder will be able to return when eligible May 10. The newly signed Dominic Smith will take Yoshida's place on the active roster. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 3:58 pm
  • Receiving day off
Ruiz is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

Advice: After going hitless in seven at-bats while starting behind the plate Monday and Tuesday, Ruiz will get a break Wednesday. Riley Adams will handle the catching duties for the Nationals. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 3:22 pm

  • Getting routine day off
Nimmo is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.

Advice: According to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, manager Carlos Mendoza said pregame that Nimmo is getting a routine day off after having started in all but one of the Mets' first 29 games of the season. Tyrone Taylor will replace Nimmo in left field and atop the batting order. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 2:20 pm
  • Red Sox place Masataka Yoshida on 10-day IL
Red Sox placed OF Masataka Yoshida on the 10-day injured list with a left hand injury.

Advice: The 30-year-old was held out of Tuesday’s lineup with the injury and is going to miss at least a couple of weeks while recovering. No word yet on the corresponding move, but it sounds like Dominic Smith’s deal could be finalized before first pitch on Wednesday and he could jump right onto the active roster. • Cora: Masataka Yoshida (hand) headed to IL
Red Sox placed Masataka Yoshida on the injured list with a left hand injury, according to manager Alex Cora.

Advice: Yoshida was absent from Tuesday’s lineup and now he’ll be out for an extended period of time. The move hasn’t come over the transaction wire, so it’s unknown if he’ll be on the 10-day or 15-day. Rotoworld Wednesday, 11:46 am
  • Headed to injured list
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Wednesday that Yoshida (hand) will be placed on the 10-day injured list, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports.

Advice: Yoshida had been set to undergo an MRI after jamming his left hand during Sunday's game versus the Cubs. While the results of that exam aren't known, the injury is evidently bad enough to result in an IL stint, which will likely be made official shortly before Wednesday's game against the Giants. First baseman Dominic Smith is reportedly set to sign a major-league deal with the Red Sox, so he'll presumably take Yoshida's spot on the 26-man active roster. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 11:43 am
  • On bench Wednesday
D'Arnaud is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Seattle.

Advice: He was behind the plate for Tuesday's 3-2 loss, so d'Arnaud will get a break for Wednesday's afternoon contest. Chadwick Tromp will start at catcher and will form a battery with starting pitcher Chris Sale. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:51 am
  • Orioles place Grayson Rodriguez on 15-day IL
Orioles placed RHP Grayson Rodriguez on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to April 30, with right shoulder inflammation.

Advice: The move comes just two days after Rodriguez’s last start where he allowed zero runs in 5 2/3 innings against the Yankees on Monday. The 24-year-old has posted a 3.71 ERA, 1.41 WHIP with a 37/12 K/BB ratio in his six starts this season. The positive for the Orioles is that the team was able to activate John Means and Kyle Bradish should be back in the rotation soon as well. Rotoworld Wednesday, 9:44 am
