• Getting breather Friday
Campusano is not in the lineup for Friday's game in Atlanta.

Advice: Campusano had been behind the plate for the Padres in each of the previous four contests, but he'll begin this one on the bench. Kyle Higashioka will do the catching for knuckleballer Matt Waldron. Rotowire.com 12 minutes ago
  • Stanton back in the lineup Friday
Giancarlo Stanton is back in the lineup, batting fifth for the Yankees against the White Sox on Friday.

Advice: Stanton had a routine day off on Thursday with the Yankees playing a day game after a night game. He’s past his prime at this point of his career, but the 34-year-old has still managed to blast nine home runs and 22 RBI in 144 at-bats this year. Rotoworld 33 minutes ago
  • Diaz blows back-to-back saves
Edwin Diaz blew another save against the Phillies on Thursday.

Advice: Three days after blowing his second save of the season, Diaz blew another save opportunity against the Phillies. Pitching with a one-run lead, Diaz walked Brandon Marsh to start the ninth inning. Marsh advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Bryson Stott. All three of Diaz’ blown saves have come in the month of May. Once an elite closer, Diaz is showing the rust of someone who missed an entire season with a knee injury.

  • Another blown save
Diaz blew the save Thursday against Philadelphia, allowing one run on one hit and one walk with two strikeouts over one inning.

Advice: Diaz inherited a one-run lead for the bottom of the ninth but didn't convert his sixth save of 2024. Instead, Diaz walked Brandon Marsh and then allowed Marsh to reach second on a wild pitch before Bryson Stott hit an RBI single to send the game into extras. Diaz has blown three of his last four save chances and has allowed six runs over his last eight innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:28 pm
  • Idle against lefty
Muncy isn't in the Dodgers' lineup for Thursday's game against the Reds.

Advice: With left-hander Brent Suter set to open Thursday's game for the Reds, Muncy will retreat to the bench. While he sits, Enrique Hernandez will man the hot corner and bat fifth. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:10 pm

  • Positive strides in bullpen session
Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns said Thursday in an interview on SNY that Senga (shoulder) recently had "a good bullpen" session where he was "making some strides."

Advice: Senga had to pull back on facing hitters while he dealt with mechanical issues, but it sounds like he and the Mets were happy with how his last throwing session went. Stearns said he wasn't sure exactly when Senga would be ready to begin a rehab assignment, but it sounds like it could be relatively soon. The right-hander is coming back from a right posterior shoulder capsule strain. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:46 pm

  • Giancarlo Stanton gets a day off on Thursday
Giancarlo Stanton is not in the lineup for the Yankees on Thursday against the Twins.

Advice: With Aaron Judge at designated hitter on Thursday, the Yankees will give Stanton a day off and let Trent Grisham patrol centerfield. While Stanton is striking out 37 percent of the time in 11 games in May, he’s also hitting .267 with three home runs and six RBI during the month. It’s just a routine day off. • Hitting bench in series finale
Stanton is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Twins.

Advice: Stanton will get a breather for the day game after a night game, ceding his spot in the lineup to Trent Grisham, who will man center field while Aaron Judge slots into Stanton's usual role at designated hitter. After making 33 starts in the corner outfield in 2023, Stanton has been deployed exclusively at DH through the first quarter of the 2024 season. Given Stanton's lengthy injury history, the Yankees will likely look to keep him in a non-defensive role so long as the likes of Judge, Juan Soto and Alex Verdugo all maintain health. • Notches two steals in loss
Lindor went 0-for-3 with a walk, a run and two stolen bases Wednesday in a loss to Philadelphia.

Advice: Lindor failed to record a hit for his third straight game, though he scored New York's first run following a hit-by-pitch in the first inning and swiped a pair of bags after walking in the third. The shortstop stole a career-high 31 bases last year but had been quiet in that category coming into Wednesday with just four thefts through 41 games. That's been part of a slow start overall for Lindor, who is slashing a meager .200/.276/.376 across 185 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:26 pm
