• Expected to require surgery
Whitlock has damage in his left UCL and will likely need surgery, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: Whitlock was shut down from throwing after he reported soreness in his right elbow Wednesday, and after further evaluation, it's been discovered that he has ligament damage. The right-hander will see a doctor in Birmingham later in the week, as he could be in the process of seeking a second opinion before electing surgery. Rotowire.com 25 minutes ago

  • Elbow surgery a possibility for Garrett Whitlock
Garrett Whitlock has UCL damage in his elbow and will receive a second opinion later this week.

Advice: Unfortunate, but it did seem like was coming. Assuming that Whitlock has surgery, he’ll almost certainly miss the rest of the season, and his return next year might come as a reliever. Rotoworld 30 minutes ago

  • Triceps tightness keeps Senga from mound session
Kodai Senga did not throw his scheduled bullpen session Monday because of triceps tightness.

Advice: Senga isn’t being shut down; the Mets are still hoping to have him on the mound later this week. All of these little setbacks he’s having as he tries to return from a shoulder injury are very concerning, and it doesn’t really seem like he’s someone to count on at this point. Still, it’s not hopeless just yet. Rotoworld Today, 2:10 pm

  • Dealing with triceps tightness
Senga did not throw a scheduled bullpen session Sunday due to right triceps tightness, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Senga had seemingly been making good progress recently as he works his way back from a right posterior shoulder capsule strain, but he's now encountered another speed bump. The hope is that he'll be ready to throw off the mound later this week, but certainly the Mets will wait until the right-hander is pain-free before he resumes a throwing program. Advice: The 37-year-old right-hander gave up just two hits on the evening while allowing one base on balls.
