    • Framber Valdez surrenders two runs in loss
      Framber Valdez pitched six innings of two-run ball Tuesday in a loss to the White Sox.

      Advice: Valdez allowed just two hits, but he walked five batters, which fueled the rallies in the third and fifth innings. Valdez worked out of big jams to limit the White Sox to single runs both innings, but the Astros offense did nothing to back him tonight. Rotoworld Tuesday, 8:04 pm
       
    • Struggles with control in loss
      Valdez (5-5) took the loss Tuesday against the White Sox, allowing two runs on two hits and five walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out five.

      Advice: The Houston southpaw toiled against a weak White Sox team that entered the evening collectively batting .220 with a 7.1 percent walk rate -- both qualifying as the second-worst marks in the majors. The five walks Valdez issued were the most since his first start this season against the Yankees on March 28, when he issued six free passes. The 30-year-old now sports a 3.91 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 56:24 K:BB over 73.2 innings. Valdez faces a difficult test in his next scheduled outing, slated to come against Baltimore at home this weekend.     • McKenzie can’t escape third inning in loss
      Triston McKenzie allowed four runs on three hits in 2 1/3 while walking four and striking out nobody in a loss to the Mariners.

      Advice: This is now the fifth straight subpar start for McKenzie, who had an uptick in velocity tonight but saw no benefit from it. We know he’s pitching through an injury, and he’s just clearly not healthy when he’s out there on the mound right now. He didn’t throw a single slider in the strike zone tonight and had just a 40 percent zone rate overall. With Gavin Williams on the way back, you have to wonder if McKenzie might be in jeopardy of losing his spot in the rotation. He’ll take a 4.48 ERA into an okay matchup against the Blue Jays this weekend, but he’s simply tough to trust right now. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:20 pm
       
    • Iglesias picks up 19th save in win over Tigers
      Raisel Iglesias pitched a perfect ninth inning to pick up his 19th save on Tuesday against the Tigers.

      Advice: After giving way to Joe Jimenez to shut the door on Monday, Iglesias was back on the bump on Tuesday to close things out vs. the Tigers. Iglesias needed just 11 pitches to pick up his 19th save of the season, bouncing back nicely from his last outing vs. the Rays. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:13 pm
       
    • Nick Lodolo tremendous in win over PIT
      Nick Lodolo allowed one run on four hits in seven innings in a win over the Pirates on Tuesday.

      Advice: The left-hander struck out eight and didn’t walk a single batter on the day. He got 18 whiffs on 50 swings for a 36 percent whiff rate and 32 percent CSW on the day. He did a good job keeping his fastball upstairs and the curve low in the zone, which led to a 57 percent whiff rate on the curve alone. Lodolo has always showcased high upside but injuries have gotten in his way; yet, he now has a 2.76 ERA on the year with a good start against these same Pirates next week.     • Ketel Marte homers, drives in three vs. Nationals
      Ketel Marte went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Tuesday’s win over the Nationals.

      Advice: Marte hit a 434-foot shot off Jake Irvin in the top of the first to give the Diamondbacks an early 2-0 lead. It was Marte’s 15 homer of the season and marks his third-straight game with an RBI. He would later bring home Corbin Carroll on a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning. The veteran second baseman has bounced back nicely from a down May in which he hit .216 and is now slashing .360/.468/.640 in the month of June with five home runs and 13 RBI.     • Kyle Tucker (shin) still not back to baseball activity
      Kyle Tucker (shin) still hasn’t resumed baseball activities.

      Advice: Astros manager Joe Espada said Tuesday that there was optimism Tucker would be able to resume some baseball activities by this point, but that hasn’t happened. The 27-year-old fantasy superstar has been out since early June due to a right shin contusion. Rotoworld Tuesday, 4:19 pm

    • Fernando Tatis Jr. gets first day off this season
      Fernando Tatis Jr. is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s showdown against the Phillies.

      Advice: It’s an extremely rare off day for Tatis, who has appeared in all 76 contests this season for San Diego, despite playing through a minor quad issue over the last few weeks. The 25-year-old corner outfielder has hit a bit of a frosty stretch over the last few days at the dish, batting .185 (5-for-27) with one homer and 10 strikeouts over his last seven games.
