    • Receiving Thursday off
Bryant is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Athletics.

Advice: Bryant will be joined on the bench by Elias Diaz, Charlie Blackmon and Brendan Rodgers as the Rockies rest four key regulars for the day game after a night game. After being activated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Bryant started at first base in both of the first two games of the series in Oakland, going 1-for-8 with two walks between the contests. Elehuris Montero will replace Bryant at first base Thursday. Rotowire.com 21 minutes ago

    • Bound for Triple-A
The Pirates optioned Suwinski to Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Suwinski has mostly operated as a strong-side platoon outfielder this season, but even against right-handed pitching, he's struggled to a .144/.256/.261 slash line over 129 plate appearances. The Pirates will send Suwinski to Indianapolis with the hope that he refines his approach and regains some confidence at the plate, but a return to the big leagues likely won't be imminent until he starts producing at Triple-A. In the meantime, Suwinski's absence could reopen more playing time at first base for Rowdy Tellez while Connor Joe takes on more starts out of the corner outfield. Rotowire.com Today, 9:38 am

    • Jack Suwinski sent down the minor leagues
Pirates optioned OF Jack Suwinski to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Advice: It’s a surprising turn of events for the 25-year-old who posted 26 home runs and 13 steals in 144 games in 2023. Suwinski was attempting to make clear changes to his approach in 2024, being more aggressive in the zone as he tried to combat his high called-strike rate from 2023. Unfortunately, that aggressive approach also led to Suwinski swinging more at pitches outside the strike zone, so while his swinging strike rate and strikeout rate went down, his quality of contact also suffered. He had just a .174/.268/.297 slash line with a 6.1 percent barrel rate that was way down from his 15.7 percent mark last year. Perhaps an approach change in the minor leagues will unlock a strong second half for Suwinski as it did for Ke’Bryan Hayes last year. Only, that coach no longer works for the Pirates. • Four hits including first homer
Arraez went 4-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Wednesday's 7-3 win over the Reds.

Advice: The 27-year-old led off the game with his first homer of the season as he produced his seventh straight multi-hit performance. Arraez has been raking since being traded to the Padres, slashing .391/.425/.478 in 73 plate appearances, and with Xander Bogaerts (shoulder) facing a lengthy absence, he should be locked in as San Diego's everyday second baseman. • Homers in loss
Alonso went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 6-3 loss to the Guardians.

Advice: Alonso opened the scoring in the first inning, sending a fastball from Triston McKenzie into the right-field seats for his 11th homer of the year. The 29-year-old Alonso has put together an eight-game hitting streak while going 18-for-59 (.305) with three homers and a .936 OPS in his last 14 contests. He's now slashing .236/.313/.466 with 24 RBI and 28 runs scored through 214 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Today, 7:28 am

    • Absent from lineup
Suwinski is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Giants, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Advice: The Giants are using a left-handed pitcher in Erik Miller to open Thursday's contest, so the lefty-hitting Suwinski will begin the game on the bench. Suwinski will be a candidate to enter mid-game if the Giants turn to a right-hander out of the bullpen. Rotowire.com Today, 7:26 am

    • Homers in third straight
McMahon went 2-for-6 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's win over Oakland.

Advice: McMahon went hitless in his first four at-bats before adding a single in the ninth and a two-run homer in the top of the 12th, which would end up being the game winner. It marked the third baseman's third consecutive game with a home run and he's now up to five long balls in May to go along with 11 RBI and 12 runs scored. McMahon has also hit safely in 10 straight games. Rotowire.com Today, 4:29 am

    • Ryan McMahon blasts go-ahead homer in Oakland
Ryan McMahon went 2-for-6 with a two-run homer to lift the Rockies to a 4-3 win over the Athletics on Wednesday.

Advice: McMahon had knocked a single in the ninth, then came through in a big spot in the 12th inning. With a runner on in a tie game, he took Kyle Muller deep for a go-ahead two-run blast. The 29-year-old third baseman is hitting an outstanding .306/.383/.508 with nine homers and 29 RBI across 211 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:57 pm

    • Career day against Milwaukee
Luzardo (2-3) picked up the win Wednesday, allowing three hits and no walks with four strikeouts across eight scoreless innings against the Brewers.

Advice: Luzardo completed eight innings for the first time in his career, blanking Milwaukee in dominant fashion. All three hits allowed were singles and he didn't issue a walk for a second straight start. The southpaw retired 17 consecutive batters during the start, spanning the second to the eighth inning. He's been excellent in three starts since coming off the IL, owning a 0.92 ERA and a 19:1 K:BB over 19.2 innings. He'll look to keep the ball rolling Tuesday against the Padres.
