    • Running bases
Lewis (quadriceps) ran the bases Monday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Advice: After starting with some light running last week, Lewis was able to run the bases for the first time Monday as he continues to rehab from a right quad strain. It's expected that Lewis will need a rehab assignment before returning, which could push his timetable for return into early June. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 1:42 pm

    • Royce Lewis (quad) making progress in recovery
Royce Lewis (quad) progressed to running the bases on Monday.

Advice: Lewis will be re-evaluated later this week to determine where he’s at in his rehabilitation process from a severe right quad strain that he suffered back on Opening Day. The 24-year-old is getting close to starting a minor league rehab assignment and could return at some point next month, barring any setbacks. Rotoworld Tuesday, 1:35 pm

    • Plays light catch
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said that Senga (shoulder/triceps) played light catch Tuesday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Advice: Senga -- who is on the injured list with a right posterior shoulder capsule strain -- had to have a scheduled bullpen session Sunday scrapped due to right triceps tightness. The hope is that he'll be able to throw off a mound later this week, though, and it's a good sign that he was able to do any kind of throwing Tuesday. Senga's timetable for a return is open-ended. • On bench Tuesday
Santander is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cardinals.

Advice: Santander has been banged up with bruised knee recently and will get a day off Tuesday after going hitless in his last 10 at-bats. Colton Cowser will bat fifth and play left field against Lance Lynn and the Cardinals. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 1:22 pm
    • Taking seat against southpaw
Julien is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Nationals.

Advice: Julien will yield to Kyle Farmer at second base with lefty Patrick Corbin on the mound for the Nationals. Julien is 0-for-12 with five strikeouts since Wednesday. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 11:31 am
    • Logs steal in loss
Pena went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Monday's 9-7 loss to the Angels.

Advice: Pena is hitting .324 (23-for-71) over 19 games in May. It hasn't been a totally empty average -- he's picked up five extra-base hits, three steals, nine RBI and 14 runs scored. The shortstop is slashing .326/.365/.457 with seven steals, five homers, 20 RBI and 30 runs through 48 contests overall. He's in an everyday role and on pace for a 20-steal season, so there's a fair amount to like about Pena's game in his third major-league season. Rotowire.com Monday, 10:50 pm
    • Collects sixth win
Gray (6-2) allowed three runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks while striking out six over 5.2 innings to earn the win Monday over the Orioles.

Advice: Gray gave up a three-run blast to Gunnar Henderson in the sixth inning, but the Cardinals were able to maintain their lead after that. The long ball has become a problem for the veteran right-hander -- he's surrendered five homers while giving up 14 runs (12 earned) over his last 16.2 innings. He's still managed to win two of his three starts in that span. Gray is at a 2.87 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 59:10 K:BB through 47 innings across eight starts this season. He allowed all of eight homers in 32 starts last year, so it's worth keeping an eye on whether Gray can keep the ball down better moving forward. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Cubs. Rotowire.com Monday, 9:53 pm

    • Gray appears to ask out of game Monday
Sonny Gray allowed one earned run, struck out six in 5 2/3 innings, picked up the win and appeared to ask Cardinals manager Oli Marmol to remove him from the game in the Cardinals’ 6-3 victory over the Orioles on Monday.

Advice: We’ll have another update on Gray’s status when we know more. The win was Gray’s sixth of the season. He cruised through the first five innings. In the sixth inning, after two men reached on errors, he allowed a three-run home run to Gunnar Henderson. Four batters later, he appeared to ask out of the game and was removed for JoJo Romero, who escaped the jam. The 34-year-old right-hander is tentatively scheduled to face the Cubs at home on Saturday.

    • Triceps tightness keeps Senga from mound session
Kodai Senga did not throw his scheduled bullpen session Monday because of triceps tightness.

Advice: Senga isn’t being shut down; the Mets are still hoping to have him on the mound later this week. All of these little setbacks he’s having as he tries to return from a shoulder injury are very concerning, and it doesn’t really seem like he’s someone to count on at this point. Still, it’s not hopeless just yet. Rotoworld Monday, 2:10 pm
