    • Abraham Toro (hamstring) out until second half
Abraham Toro has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 right hamstring strain.

Advice: It’s the best-case scenario outcome for Toro, but he’s still going to be sidelined until after next month’s All-Star break. The 27-year-old infielder hit the injured list earlier this weekend after suffering the ailment during Friday’s game against the Twins. Rotoworld 14 minutes ago

    • Matt McLain (shoulder) close to resuming swinging
Reds manager David Bell told reporters Sunday that Matt McLain (shoulder) is close to resuming swinging a bat.

Advice: The Reds are in the process of mapping out a definitive timeline for McLain to return at some point in August as he works his way back from late-March surgery on his left shoulder. The 24-year-old middle infielder was excellent last year in his debut for Cincinnati and figures to make a significant impact for fantasy managers down the home stretch, if he can avoid any setbacks. He’s worthy of a speculative stash in deeper mixed leagues at this point, even if he’s a couple months away from returning. Rotoworld Today, 9:35 am

    • Idle versus lefty
Carroll is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Phillies, Jody Jackson of Bally Sports Arizona reports.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Carroll will begin Sunday's game in the dugout with Philadelphia sending southpaw Cristopher Sanchez to the mound. Carroll is slashing .257/.373/.386 with 18 runs and five RBI over 70 at-bats in June. Jake McCarthy will start Sunday's game in center field and bat sixth. Rotowire.com Today, 6:56 am
    • Five innings in rehab outing
Perez (groin) allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits and no walks while striking out four across five innings in a rehab appearance with Triple-A Indianapolis on Saturday.

Advice: It was Perez's first rehab outing since landing on the injured list May 28 and he threw 63 pitches. That was slightly below his goal of 75 entering the appearance, though he likely did enough to prove he's ready to be activated for his next turn through the rotation. The earliest he'd return is Friday at Atlanta. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:23 pm

    • Luis Campusano (thumb) lands on 10-day IL
Padres placed C Luis Campusano on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to June 21, with a left thumb contusion.

Advice: The Padres don’t expect him to miss longer than the minimum time on the injured list, but since he wasn’t going to be ready for at least another couple of days they opted to bring up Brett Sullivan to help them out behind the plate. Expect Sullivan to share the load with Kyle Higashioka while Campusano is sidelined. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:55 pm

    • Hitting injured list
Campusano (thumb) was placed on the injured list Saturday but isn't expected to miss more than 10 days, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports

Advice: Campusano was scratched from Friday's game and held out of Saturday's contest with left thumb soreness, and it turns out the injury will require a stint on the IL. While the Padres don't expect the injury to last beyond the minimum 10 days, Brett Sullivan will take Campusano's place on the active roster. Kyle Higashioka should get most of the catching work in Campusano's absence. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:29 pm

    • Absent from starting nine
Campusano (thumb) is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against Milwaukee.

Advice: Campusano was scratched from Friday's lineup with soreness in his left thumb and will remain on the bench to begin Saturday's game. Kyle Higashioka will be behind the plate and bat ninth. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:13 pm

    • Luis Campusano (thumb) absent from Padres lineup
Luis Campusano (thumb) is absent from the Padres’ starting lineup on Saturday.

Advice: Campusano was scratched from the team’s starting lineup on Friday night due to the same issue. It doesn’t sound like he’ll require a trip to the injured list, but may need another day or two before he’s ready to return. Kyle Higashioka will draw another start behind the dish and will bat ninth against Carlos Rodriguez and the Brewers on Saturday evening in San Diego. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:12 pm

    • Facing hitters Sunday
Senga (shoulder) will throw live batting practice Sunday, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.

Advice: Senga has had no issues throwing bullpen sessions over the last several days, so he will now graduate to throwing 20 pitches against hitters at the Mets' complex in Florida. Assuming all goes well, the 31-year-old righty will likely throw another few live sessions before being cleared to begin a rehab assignment with one of the Mets' minor-league affiliates.
