    • Moving to cleanup
Devers is expected to hit in the four-hole for the foreseeable future, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: Devers slotted in at cleanup Wednesday and went 1-for-4 in a loss to Atlanta. He usually hits second in the order, but manager Alex Cora wants to separate the two lefties at the top -- Jarren Duran bats leadoff. Connor Wong hit second Wednesday against lefty Chris Sale, and Cora said he'll probably use Wilyer Abreu there against righties. Rotowire.com 17 minutes ago

    • Steps in to close out game
McArthur picked up the save Wednesday against the Brewers after a perfect two-thirds of an inning.

Advice: The ball was handed to Tyler Duffey for the ninth, but after Duffey walked two batters and gave up a double to Brice Turang, McArthur was forced to step in and close the door. The save snapped McArthur out of a two-game slump in which he allowed five runs (four earned) and was charged with two blown saves and two losses. McArthur now has eight saves on the season, which is tied for the fourth most in the AL. Rotowire.com Today, 7:28 pm
    • Gets back in win column
Singer (3-1) earned the win Wednesday against Milwaukee, allowing one run on five hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Singer tallied his first win in five starts, yielding one run for a third consecutive outing. He settled in nicely after allowing doubles to the first two batters he faced, keeping the Brewers off the scoreboard following the first frame. Singer has allowed more than two runs in just one start this season and owns a 2.36 ERA with 46 strikeouts across 45.2 innings. He's lined up for a start in Seattle on Monday. • Not used in save opportunity
Sewald did not enter Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Reds.

Advice: Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo used Kevin Ginkel to close out what was a 4-2 lead to begin the bottom of the ninth inning, but he ran into trouble, allowing a walk and two singles. Lovullo turned to Joe Mantiply to close out the game. Presumably, the manager didn't want to push Sewald so soon after missing a month-and-a-half with an oblique injury; he threw 15 pitches Tuesday in his first game off the injured list. • Sale dominates former team Wednesday
Chris Sale was utterly dominant with six shutout innings and 10 strikeouts and picked up the win in the 5-0 victory over the Red Sox on Wednesday.

Advice: Sale lowered his ERA on the season to 2.95 with the excellent outing. He certainly showed the Red Sox what they’re missing after trading him last offseason. The win was Sale’s fifth in seven starts this season. His 52 strikeouts are in the top 10 among qualified starting pitchers. Sale is set to take on the Chicago Cubs at home next week. • Beginning assignment Sunday
Snell (thigh) will throw a bullpen session Thursday and begin a rehab assignment at Single-A San Jose on Sunday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Snell began facing hitters Tuesday, and he has now been given the green light to test his injured thigh in a competitive setting. The left-hander may have his assignment moved to a higher-level affiliate after his rehab outing Sunday, though it is possible the Giants opt to return him to their rotation after just one start. • Blake Snell tabbed for rehab start on Sunday
Blake Snell (adductor) is scheduled to make a minor league rehab start at Single-A San Jose on Sunday.

Advice: The 31-year-old southpaw will first throw a bullpen session on Thursday, then if all goes well he’ll be cleared to take the mound in that rehab start. Snell has been shelved since April 24 due to a left adductor strain. It remains to be seen if he’ll require any additional rehab starts after Sunday’s tune-up, or if he’ll be ready to return to the Giants’ rotation if things go well there. Rotoworld Today, 4:04 pm

    • Giants finally place Jorge Soler (shoulder) on IL
Giants placed OF Jorge Soler on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to May 5, with a right shoulder strain.

Advice: The Giants had been taking things day-to-day with their 32-year-old slugger — who has been shelved since last weekend due to soreness in his right shoulder — but on Wednesday they felt it was time to throw in the towel and sit him down rather than playing short-handed any longer. It’s a tough break for fantasy managers in weekly leagues, who may have chanced starting him for that juicy series at Coors Field. Heliot Ramos was recalled in a corresponding move. • Lands on injured list
The Giants placed Soler on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a right shoulder strain, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Soler's shoulder has caused him to miss the last three games, and he'll now officially be sidelined for another several days. The move is retroactive to Sunday, so it's possible the 32-year-old slugger is able to return in a week, but the Giants will wait and see how his shoulder heals. Heliot Ramos was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Today, 2:49 pm
