      Corey Seager hit a three-run homer in the eighth to lead the Rangers past the A’s 4-2 on Monday.

      Advice: The Rangers were still scoreless until Seager took Lucas Erceg deep in the eighth. They then added an insurance run in the ninth. The homer was Seager’s third in 33 games this season. He’s obviously still way off his 2023 numbers, but not in such a way that he’s a particularly weaker bet for the rest of the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:31 pm

    • Steals another base
      Chisholm went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and a stolen base Monday in a loss to the Dodgers.

      Advice: Chisholm put his speed on display in the first inning, reaching on a leadoff infield single, swiping second base and coming around to score on a single. He finished with his second straight multi-hit game, and he's stolen three bases over that pair of contests.     • Takes loss despite quality start
      Flaherty (0-2) took the loss Monday against Cleveland, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk over six innings. He struck out six.

      Advice: Flaherty struggled with the Guardians' power, yielding three extra-base hits, including a solo homer in the sixth frame to Jose Ramirez. While the veteran righty has been an excellent source of strikeouts with 56 K's through 42 innings, he hasn't been as dominant in the run department but still owns a 3.86 ERA and has walked merely six batters.     • Mixed results in season debut
      Buehler allowed three runs on six hits and no walks while striking out four batters over four innings in a no-decision against Miami on Monday.

      Advice: Buehler had a favorable matchup in his first major-league start since mid-June of 2022, as he squared off against the team with the third-worst record in baseball. That didn't seem to matter early, though, as the Marlins jumped on the right-hander for a pair of first-inning runs on a trio of singles. However, Buehler's fastball velocity averaged a solid 96.6 mph in the frame, per Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register, which foreshadowed him settling down to allow just one more run over the remainder of his outing. Not surprisingly, the 29-year-old wasn't pushed too hard in his return to the majors, as he was pulled after 77 pitches and four frames rather than being allowed to complete the fifth and qualify for the win. Assuming Buehler comes out of the start without any setbacks, Monday's outing will likely serve as a foundation on which he can build up to a higher pitch count moving forward.     • Turns tide with three-run homer
      Seager went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run Monday in a 4-2 victory against Oakland.

      Advice: Texas was down 2-0 heading into the eighth frame before Seager turned the team's fortunes around with a two-out, three-run blast to center field. It was a much-needed big moment for the star shortstop, as he came into the contest batting just .190 in May and .228 overall on the season. After slugging 33 homers and driving in 96 runs last year, Seager has just three homers and 13 RBI through 33 games in 2024.     • Walker Buehler goes four innings in season debut
      Walker Buehler allowed three runs over four innings in a start Monday against the Marlins.

      Advice: He allowed six hits with no walks, and he struck out four. Buehler didn’t get deep enough to qualify for the win, as he threw 77 pitches in his first start since June of 2022. The right-hander gave up a pair of run-scoring singles in the first and a homer to Nick Gordon in the second, but Buehler settled down nicely over the final two innings, and showed flashes of the ace hurler he was prior to Tommy John surgery.     • Justin Steele sharp over 4 2/3 in return from IL
      Justin Steele fired 4 2/3 shutout innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Padres.

      Advice: Steele limited San Diego’s offense to just three hits and one walk, notching a pair of strikeouts, in his return at Wrigley Field following a five-weeks absence due to a hamstring strain. The 28-year-old ace averaged nearly 92 mph on his four-seam fastball in this one and got his pitch count up to 68 (43 strikes) before being lifted in the fifth inning.       Steele allowed three hits and a walk over 4.2 scoreless innings in a no-decision Monday. He struck out two during the loss to San Diego.

      Advice: Steele made his first start since straining his hamstring during his Opening Day outing. He showed no signs of rust but was clearly on a limit, as he threw only 68 pitches. He gave up one extra-base hit but otherwise kept San Diego's bats quiet. Steele has given up one run through 9.1 innings in two starts this season.       Jack Flaherty yielded two earned runs and struck out six batters in six innings on Monday in a loss against the Guardians.

      Advice: It would’ve been nonsense to think Flaherty could match his last outing of 14 punch outs, but the 28-year-old pitched well against the Guardians and now has six or more strikeouts in five straight starts. The right-hander allowed his first of two runs in the first inning off a single from Will Brennan. He didn’t allow another run until his last inning when José Ramírez took him deep in the sixth.
