      Advice: Arrighetti was moved up a day when Justin Verlander (neck) was scratched from his scheduled start. The result was disastrous for the Astros, as Arrighetti gave up three home runs in his shortest outing of the season, though the Astros came into Saturday with a well-rested bullpen. The rookie right-hander has not made a good impression in the majors this year with a 6.37 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and 63:31 K:BB over 53.2 innings through 12 starts. With the Astros' rotation already thin, it's likely Arrighetti sticks around for his next start, which is tentatively scheduled to be a tough home matchup versus the Orioles.       Randy Arozarena went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Braves on Saturday.

      Advice: Arozarena was hitless until a 403-foot big fly in the ninth inning. It was his ninth of the season and just his 21st RBI all year. The 29-year-old also struck out once and is hitting just .175/.284/.325 on the year. While the overall numbers are bad, there are no glaring red flags to point to. He’s swinging and missing slightly more and is perhaps being a bit too passive this season, potentially leading to worse overall contact quality.       Spencer Arrighetti allowed seven runs on five hits in 1 1/3 innings in a loss to the Tigers on Saturday.

      Advice: The Astros moved Arrighetti’s start up a day when Justin Verlander was scratched with an injury and that may have been the wrong move. The 24-year-old had allowed just two earned runs over 14 2/3 innings in his last three starts and had a 15.3 percent K-BB rate and 11.4 percent swinging strike rate over his last four starts. Yet, nothing worked for him on Saturday. He couldn’t find the plate with anything other than his cutter and induced just three whiffs on 20 swings for a 15 percent whiff rate and 23 percent CSW.       Advice: Gimenez has two steals over his last three games, giving him 11 thefts on the year. The second baseman has struggled at the plate in June, batting .206 (7-for-34) over eight contests, but he continues to see a starting role even after a recent run of the Guardians facing four left-handed starters in a six-game span.       Advice: Verlander was geared up to face his former team Saturday, but he'll now likely have to have his turn in the rotation skipped completely as a result of the neck issue. With Sunday's scheduled starter Spencer Arrighetti now pushed up to toe the rubber Saturday, Houston will likely have to look outside the major-league roster for a fill-in starter Sunday. Left-hander Eric Lauer is with Triple-A Sugar Land and could be an option to be called up. It's unclear whether or not Verlander's injury will require a stint on the injured list, but for now the 41-year-old's next opportunity to return to the mound appears to be next weekend in Baltimore at the earliest.       Justin Verlander was scratched from Saturday’s start against the Tigers due to neck discomfort.

      Advice: No word yet on the severity of the neck ailment that led to Verlander being scratched from a highly-anticipated outing against his former team, but Astros manager Joe Espada told reporters they don’t believe it’s an injured list situation. Espada added that the 41-year-old veteran righty has been pitching through neck soreness for the last two or three weeks, which certainly helps explain his recent struggles. It’ll be rookie Spencer Arrighetti taking the ball in his place. There should be an additional update on his status at some point this weekend.
