      Robert Suarez recorded a five-out save on Monday against the Cubs.

      Advice: Suarez was tasked with protecting a three-run lead upon entering the eighth inning of Monday’s series opener at Wrigley Field for his first appearance since last Wednesday. The hard-throwing 33-year-old righty struck out Yan Gomes and retired Nico Hoerner to extinguish a bases-loaded threat in the eighth before coming back out to toss a perfect final frame. He’s converted all 11 of his save opportunities this season to go along with a microscopic 0.59 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and 14/4 K/BB ratio across 15 1/3 innings (14 appearances).       Suarez struck out three batters over 1.2 perfect frames and earned a save over the Cubs on Monday.

      Advice: Suarez was called into a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the eighth inning and quickly steamrolled the Cubs in order to finish off the game. He matched his longest outing of the year while firing 14 of 20 pitches for strikes. Suarez has been nearly perfect this season; he's 1-0 with a 0.59 ERA while converting each of his 11 save chances.       Alvarado got the save in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Giants, allowing a solo home run while also striking out a batter in the ninth inning.

      Advice: Alvarado served up a one-out solo blast to Jakson Reetz that pulled the Giants to within a run but was able to recoup with a strikeout and line out to end the game.       José Alvarado served up a solo homer in the ninth inning on Sunday night, but was still able to close out the Giants to protect a one-run lead and secure his seventh save of the season.

      Advice: The 28-year-old southpaw gave up a one-out solo blast to Jakson Reetz that pulled the Giants to within a run, but he battled back to strike out Nick Ahmed and got Jung Hoo Lee on a fly ball to right field to end it.       Pfaadt (1-2) took the loss against the Padres on Saturday, allowing five runs (three earned) on 10 hits over six innings. He struck out four.

      Advice: Pfaadt struggled with San Diego's lineup throughout the contest, allowing hits to three of the first four batters he faced and surrendering three runs over the first four innings -- though one of those was unearned on account of a fielding error by Blaze Alexander. The right-hander was later relieved by Brandon Hughes in the seventh after surrendering back-to-back singles to open the frame, which led to an eight-run inning for the Padres. Despite his struggles on the night, Pfaadt still managed to log his second consecutive quality start and has now posted a 15:0 K:BB over his last two outings.       Valdez (1-1) took the loss against Seattle on Saturday, allowing five runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out three batters over 5.1 innings.

      Advice: Valdez turned in his worst start of the campaign, as the five runs and nine hits he allowed were both season-worst marks while he recorded a season-low three punchouts. The left-hander also gave up his first two homers of the year, with Cal Raleigh's two-run shot in the sixth inning resulting in the hurler getting the hook. Since being activated from the injured list April 27 following a near month-long absence due to an elbow injury, Valdez has surrendered seven runs on 14 hits across 10.1 frames over two starts.       Advice: There was a rain delay before the game and more inclement weather during the contest, but Suarez seemed undaunted as he became the first six-game winner in baseball (Tyler Glasnow joined him later Saturday). It speaks to how well Suarez has pitched this season that this was easily his worst start since his first outing of the season when he allowed three runs in five innings. The three runs the left-hander gave up Saturday matched his total from his previous five starts. With a matchup versus the Marlins looming next week, Suarez has a good chance to keep rolling.       Framber Valdez coughed up five runs over 5 1/3 innings on Saturday in a loss to the Mariners.

      Advice: Valdez didn’t quite have as much success in his second outing back from the injured list as the division-rival Mariners tagged him for a pair of homers, which was more than enough run support for Logan Gilbert, who tossed eight shutout innings on the other side. The 30-year-old southpaw will carry a serviceable 3.97 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 19/7 K/BB ratio across 22 2/3 innings (four starts) into a road outing on Friday against the Tigers.     • John Means spins seven-inning gem in ’24 debut
      John Means recorded eight strikeouts over seven shutout innings on Saturday in a win over the Reds.

      Advice: Means spun an absolute gem in his season debut following a five-week absence at the outset of the season due to a lingering elbow issue from last year, limiting Cincinnati’s stellar lineup to just three hits over seven frames. The 31-year-old southpaw induced 19 swinging strikes, including eight on his signature changeup alone, and finished with a near-elite 39 percent CSW. It was an extremely encouraging outing and certainly inspires confidence in his ability to make an impact for fantasy managers moving forward. He’ll face the Diamondbacks at home next Saturday.
