    • Candelario dealing with hamstring tendinitis
Reds’ manager David Bell told reporters that Jeimer Candelario was held out of the team’s starting lineup on Wednesday due to hamstring tendinitis.

Advice: The injury isn’t believed to be serious, and sounds like something the 30-year-old slugger has been dealing with for a while. He’s considered day-to-day. On the season, Candelario is slashing a respectable .245/.298/.480 with 14 homers, 39 RBI and three stolen bases. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:02 pm
    • Dealing with hamstring tendinitis
Reds manager David Bell clarified Wednesday that Candelario is dealing with hamstring tendinitis and is considered day-to-day, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Advice: Candelario has been nursing the issue for more than a week, with Bell saying before Wednesday's loss to the Pirates that the injury is "progressively not getting better." However, the team doesn't seem to have any plans at this time to put Candelario on the 10-day injured list. Even if Candelario avoids the IL, he could still be deployed at designated hitter for a few games to ease the stress on his legs. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:57 pm
    • Getting day off Wednesday
O'Hoppe is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Athletics.

Advice: O'Hoppe had started each of the previous 11 games -- including 10 at catcher -- so the Angels determined it was time to give him a breather. Matt Thaiss will start behind the plate for the Halos in Wednesday's series finale. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:44 am
    • Swats homer Tuesday
Soto went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional run and two walks in Tuesday's loss to the Mets.

Advice: Soto plated the Yankees' first run with his solo shot in the fifth inning, though the Mets had already built a big lead by that time. The long ball was the first extra-base hit over the outfielder's past eight games, and he's batted an uncharacteristically poor .160 (4-for-25) during that stretch. Soto has continued to reach base consistently, however, due to his willingness to take a walk -- across the eight-game span, he's accumulated an 11:6 BB:K, and he leads the league with 65 total walks on the season. • Battling knee tendinitis
Reds manager David Bell said Wednesday that Candelario is dealing with knee tendinitis that is "progressively not getting better" and "maybe a bit worse," Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Advice: Candelario -- who is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Pirates -- was removed from a game last week with the knee issue, and it has continued to nag at him. Bell noted that Candelario is still able to play but added that the infielder will be re-evaluated later Wednesday as the club decides how to best handle the situation. With Noelvi Marte looking likely to return from an 80-game suspension Thursday to provide the club another option at third base, it's possible the Reds will choose to put Candelario on the injured list if they determine his knee would improve with some extended rest. • Stays hot Tuesday
Nimmo went 1-for-4 with a walk, a home run, a second run scored and three RBI in Tuesday's win over the Yankees.

Advice: His two-run shot in the fourth inning was the Mets' fourth home run of the night, with all four coming off Gerrit Cole. Nimmo extended his hitting streak to 10 games with the blast, a stretch in which he's slashing .415/.478/.829 with five of his 12 homers on the season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:14 am
    • Receiving rest Wednesday
Candelario is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: Candelario will get a routine day off after he had been in the lineup for each of the previous five contests. Spencer Steer and Santiago Espinal will occupy the corner-infield spots for the Reds on Wednesday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:40 am
    • Not in Wednesday's lineup
Polanco is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game in Tampa Bay.

Advice: Polanco played the first two games of the series upon his return from the injured list, going 1-for-8 with one run scored and four strikeouts. He'll receive a breather Wednesday as Dylan Moore fills in at second base. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:20 am

    • Bags 13th save
Phillips earned the save in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the White Sox, pitching a perfect inning with one strikeout.

Advice: Phillips entered the ninth with a one-run lead and promptly retired the side on 14 pitches, including 10 strikes. The 29-year-old right-hander has been steady in June so far, pitching to a 3.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 8:2 K:BB over nine innings with five saves. Phillips has converted 14 consecutive save chances, with his last blown save coming against Seattle on Sept. 16, 2023. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 9:02 pm
