    • Kutter Crawford gives up three homers in loss
      Kutter Crawford surrendered five runs — three earned — in 6 1/3 innings Friday in a loss to the Reds.

      Advice: Crawford surrendered three homers tonight, bringing his total allowed to seven in his last three starts. He’s given up at least one in seven straight outings.       Eovaldi (4-3) yielded two runs on four hits and a walk over six innings Friday, striking out six and earning a win over the Royals.

      Advice: Eovaldi coughed up a solo shot to Kyle Isbel in the third inning and gave up one other run in the fifth. Since returning from the injured list, Eovaldi has produced a 4.01 ERA while going 2-1 through five starts. He's turned in two quality starts in his last three outings and forced 15 whiffs Friday, his best total since April 20.     • Nathan Eovaldi fans six in victory over the Royals
      Nathan Eovaldi snagged his fourth victory of the season on Friday night, limiting the Royals to two runs on four hits over his six innings of work.

      Advice: The 34-year-old right-hander punched out six batters on the night while allowing two walks. He served up a solo homer to Kyle Isbel in the third inning and an RBI single to Garrett Hampson in the fifth but was able to limit the damage otherwise. Eovaldi got 14 swings and misses on 98 pitches on the evening, posting a CSW of 27 percent. He’ll see if he can keep the good times rolling as he carries a 3.14 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and a 70/25 K/BB ratio (66 innings) into Wednesday’s battle against the Brewers in Milwaukee.       Zac Gallen (hamstring) is expected to throw around 70 pitches in another simulated game on Monday.

      Advice: Assuming all goes well with that session, the expectation is that he’ll rejoin the Diamondbacks’ rotation next weekend against the Athletics.       Lugo allowed two runs on six hits and three walks while striking out eight batters over 6.2 innings in a no-decision against Oakland on Thursday.

      Advice: Lugo held the A's scoreless until Zack Gelof tagged him for a two-run homer with two outs in the seventh inning. The blast tied the game, costing Lugo a chance at his 11th win of the campaign. The right-hander nonetheless notched his 12th quality start, which is tied for the MLB lead.       Zac Gallen (hamstring) is scheduled to throw another simulated game early next week.

      Advice: The hope here is that Gallen will be ready to be activated, without requiring a minor league rehab assignment, after next week’s simulated game.     • Lugo allows two runs in no-decision on Thursday
      Seth Lugo allowed two runs in 6 2/3 innings and got a no-decision in the Royals’ 3-2 victory over the Athletics on Thursday.



      Advice: Lugo gave up six hits, walked three and struck out eight. He allowed a two-run game-tying home run to Zack Gelof in the seventh inning, but it was still another solid effort from Lugo. The 34-year-old right-hander is set to face the Marlins at home next week.

    • Another sim game coming next week
      Gallen (hamstring) is scheduled to throw another simulated game early next week and could be reinstated from the 15-day injured list shortly thereafter, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

      Advice: After tossing 31- and 37-pitch bullpen sessions last week, Gallen advanced to facing hitters in a simulated game Tuesday. Gallen's strained right hamstring apparently responded well to the workout, but the Diamondbacks will still have him toss another sim game during the upcoming week before signing off on his return to the rotation.     • Tosses quality start but takes loss
      Crochet (6-6) took the loss against Houston on Wednesday, allowing three runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out eight batters over six innings.

      Advice: Crochet racked up a hearty 19 whiffs and eight punchouts, but it wasn't enough to keep him out of the loss column in a contest during which he was supported with just one run. The fact that the three earned runs were the most the left-hander has allowed since April 24 speaks volumes about the quality of his campaign thus far. Crochet has tallied six consecutive quality starts and is tied for 10th in the majors with 10 total on the campaign.
